The+property+that+became+Camp+Blanton+and+Blanton+Forest+was+originally+owned+by+Grover+and+Oxie+Blanton%2c+and+Jesse+M%2e+and+Francis+Blanton%2c+of+Wallins%2e+++++On+August+13%2c+1933%2c+the+Blanton+family+gave+the+property+to+Will+Ward+Duffield+and+O%2eM%2e+Hoskins%2c+trustees+of+the+Harlan+County+Boy+Scouts+of+America%2c+for+the+purpose+of+a+Boy+Scout+camp%2e%0d%0a%0d%0a++++In+1934%2c+ownership+of+the+camp+was+temporarily+transferred+to+the+Harlan+County+Fiscal+Court%2e+As+a+government+entity%2c+the+camp+became+eligible+for+federal+government+assistance+through+President+Roosevelt%27s+Emergency+Conservation+Work+Act%2c+part+of+the+president%27s+New+Deal%2e+The+newly+created+Civilian+Conservation+Corps+worked+to+battle+the+destruction+and+erosion+of+natural+resources+including+Camp+Blanton%2c+where+they+constructed+a+dam+and+small+lake%2c+as+well+as+Duffield+Lodge%2c+named+after+Will+Ward+Duffield%2e%0d%0a%0d%0a++++From+that+time%2c+Camp+Blanton+served+as+a+Boy+Scout+Camp+for+the+BSA+Cumberland+Council+for+many+years%2e+On+September+7%2c+1963%2c+redistricting+of+the+Boy+Scouts+councils+led+to+a+transfer+of+the+camp+to+the+Bluegrass+Council+%23204%2e+However%2c+in+1988+the+relationship+ended+between+the+camp+and+the+Bluegrass+Council%2c+although+several+Harlan+County+Boy+scout+and+Cub+Scout+troops+still+use+the+camp+regularly%2e%0d%0a%0d%0a
