Winton+is+located+on+Bear+River+Reservvoir+off+Highway+88+above+Jackson+at+an+elevation+of+4800%27%2e+It+is+accessible+only+by+foot+or+by+boat%2e+Scouts+hike+in+and+the+camp+boat+transports+the+troop+gear%2e+Units+must+provide+their+own+tentage%2e+Each+unit+has+its+own+campsite+and+Scouts+eat+cafeteria+style+on+picnic+tables+under+the+whispering+pines+along+the+beautiful+waterfront%2e+Aquatic+activities+are+a+specialty+at+Winton%2c+with+water%2dskiing%2c+sailing%2c+and+motorboating+among+those+of+special+iut%7erest+to+scouts%2e+For+the+high+adventurers%2c+overnight+canoe+treks+are+available%2e+A+first%2dyear+scout+program%2c+shooting+sports%2c+rock+climbing%2c+nature+and+round+out+the+traditional+program+at+Winton%2e+The+new+C%2eO%2eP%2eE%2e+course+provides+additional+cha11enge+to+the+scouts%2e%0d%0a%0d%0a
Out+Scout+Troop+camped+at+Camp+Winton+this+past+summer+and+loved+it%2e++The+lake+is+beautiful%2c+facilities+are+nice%2c+my+son+had+a+blast%2e++The+hike+into+camp+is+great+with+a+view+of+the+lake+after+about+10+minutes%2e%0d%0a
I+have+worked+at+Thunder+Scout+Reservation%2c+La+No+Che+%28Winn+Dixie+Scout+Reservation%29%2c+Powhaten+Blue+Ridge+Scout+Reservation%29%2c+Claytor+Lake+Aqutics+Base%2c+Salmen+Scout+Reservation+%28New+Orlaeans+Area+Council%29+and+Florida+National+High+Adventure+Sea+Base%2e+I+can+say+that+without+a+doubt+this+is+the+absolute+best+scouting+camp+program+I+have+ever+seen%2e+You+may+have+to+bring+your+own+tent+but+you+will+find+plenty+of+scout+spirit+already+here%2e+Norman+Rockwell+couldn%27t+have+painted+a+more+Idyllic+scout+camp%2e+Tradition+abounds+and+the+staff+is+fixated+on+bringing+a+true+scouting+spirit+to+every+scout+and+scouter%2e+I+was+the+aquatics+director+here+in+1999+and+if+I+didn%27t+have+to+grow+and+get+a+real+job+I+would+have+spent+the+rest+of+my+summers+driving+there+from+my+home+in+Florida%2e+The+camp+is+limited+to+a+low+number+of+campers+each+week+by+the+National+Forest+it%27s+located+in%2e+This+camp+always+fills+up+every+week+and+for+good+reason%2e%0d%0a

Our+Troop+had+such+a+great+time+at+Camp+Winton%2c+we+are+going+again+next+year%2e++The+facilities+are+Awesome+and+the+staff+was+superb%2e++It+was+awesome%2e%0d%0a
Our+Troop+has+attended+Winton+for+the+last+three+years%2e++Excellent+merit+badge+program%2e%2e%2eplenty+of+options%2c+written+work+and+research+required%2e%2e%2ebring+paper+and+pencil%21++They+guarantee+that+every+scout+will+get+the+opportunity+to+take+the+class+they+want%2e++Note+that+some+badges+are+limited+to+scouts+14+years+or+older%2e++Plenty+of+food%2c+usually+very+good%2e++Seconds+offered%2e++Spirit+and+professionalism+of+staff+is+the+best+I%27ve+seen+anywhere%2e++Most+staff+return+every+year%2e%2e%2eand+they+remember+the+scout+leaders%21%28very+impressive%21%29+A+step+ahead+of+most+councils%2e%2e%2ethey+offered+the+adult+Paddle+Craft+Safety+Training%2ca+12+hour+course%2c+last+summer%2e%2e%2every+well+run%2e%0d%0a
Camp+Winton+is+the+best%21%21%21+I+am+addicted+to+Winton+which+I+will+be+going+to+for+the+4th+straight+year++%0d%0a
I+served+on+Camp+Winton%27s+aquatics+staff+from+1966%2d1968%2c+and+as+its+Program+Director+in+1969%2c++but+I+had+to+grow+up+and+get+a+real+job%2e++Since+then+%28the+past+40+years%29%2c+I+have+measured+all+Boy+Scout+camps+I+have+attended+%28as+a+Scout+Leader%29+by+Camp+Winton%2e++Camp+Winton+is+the+best+in+my+estimation%2e%0d%0a
My+only+concern+about+Camp+Winton+is+it+is+on+a+steep+hillside%2e+The+camp+our+troop+was+in+was+on+%22Cardiac+Trail%22%2e+%0d%0aFood+was+good%2e+%0d%0aStaff+was+great%21%0d%0a%0d%0a
