The+food+at+Camp+Fleischmann+if+much+better+with+a+fresh+fruit+and+salad+bar+at+every+meal%2e++Fresh+baked+bread+daily%2c++and+a+lot+of+home+cooking%2e%0d%0a
We+just+returned+from+Camp+Fleischman%2e++I+was+very+impressed+by+the+united+staff%2e+We+did+feel+that+out+of+area+or+new+troops+were+at+a+disadvantage+regarding+information%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+food+was+good+and+abundent%2e++A+cold+cereal+and+fruit+bar+as+well+as+oatmeal+was+available+every+day+for+breakfast%2e++At+lunch+a+salad+bar+and+soup+of+the+day+was+offered+as+well+as+the+planned+hot+meal%2e++Salad+bar+and+fruit+was+again+offered+at+dinner%2e+The+food+service+was+very+accommodating+to+the+campers+with+food+related+issues+%28allergies%2c+gluten+intolerance%2c+religious+constraints%29%2e++%0d%0a%0d%0aBe+forewarned+you+will+need+to+bring+your+own+tents+and+that+from+most+campsites+it+is+a+long+walk+to+the+showerhouse%2e++Dusty%2c+but+that+is+a+standard+problem+for+Sierra+camps%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0aIn+their+leader%27s+guide+the+merit+badges+are+marked+as+to+location+that+they+are+offered+and+those+that+will+be+%22partial%22+are+denoted%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0aA+wide+range+of+leader+activities+are+also+offered%2e++Have+you+been+to+a+camp+where+the+commissioner%27s+staff+deliever+the+newspaper+and+coffee+to+you+camp+site+in+the+morning%3f%0d%0a
Camp+Fleischmann+is+a+wonderful+camp+for+all+scouters%2e+The+staff+is+very+united+and+is+very+knowledgeable%2e+They+have+a+program+over+at+%22The+Ridge%22+where+scouts+can+take+a+step+back+in+time+to+the+mountain+man+era%2c+there+they+can+shoot+black+powder+rifles%2c+throw+tomahawks%2c+do+metal+work%2c+and+much+more%2e+Plus+every+Thursday+their+dance+team+puts+on+a+Native+American+powwow%2e+%0d%0aLeaders+also+have+many+activities+to+do+like+the+scout+master+belly+flop%2c+the+scout+master+shoot%2c+and+a+separate+cinica+run+for+the+adults%2e+%0d%0aDon%27t+expect+to+see+any+technology+here%2e+This+a+very+rugged+camp+and+is+an+awesome+get+away+from+normal+life%2e%0d%0a
Our+troop+went+to+Fleischmann+in+2008+and+had+an+excellent+time%2e++There+was+a+minor+fire+out+by+the+black+powder+range+one+night%2e++Staff+coordinated++a+safe%2c+orderly+movement+from+the+camping+areas+to+the+dining+area+for+safety%2e+I+was+very+impressed+with+how+this+was+handled%2e+Calfire+arrived+with+several+trucks+and+we+were+back+in+our+tents+in+no+time%2e+The+next+morning+breakfast+was+served+on+time%2e+Food+was+cafeteria+style+and+palatable%2e++Lots+of+scouts+went+back+for+seconds+on+all+meals%2e++The+only+downside+is+the+fine+alpine+dust+which+gets+into+and+on+everything%2e+Yes+this+camp+is+dirty%2fdusty+but+the+lake+is+great%2e++This+year+our+troop+chose+to+go+to+Camp+Baker+and+I+will+update+that+camps+blog+for+comparison%2e+On+a+scale+of+1%2d5%2c+I+give+Fleischmann+a+4%2e++%0d%0a
I+have+only+been+to+2+scout+camps+so+far+%2e%2e%2e+Fleischmann+last+year+and+Wente+this+year%2e++I+was+disappointed+with+Fleischmann+and+my+experience+at+Wente+this+year+has+confirmed+that+Fleischmann+is+a+substandard+camp%2e++I%27m+surprised+by+all+the+positive+comments+for+Fleischmann+and+can+only+assume+that+these+reviewers+have+not+experienced+a+better+camp+such+as+Wente%2e++I+have+two+major+complaints+with+Fleischmann%2e++First%2c+the+food+quality+is+only+fair+and+the+food+service+is+terrible%2e++Everyone+eats+at+the+same+time+and+it%27s+a+mad%2c+every+man+for+himself%2c+rush+to+the+food%2e++They+ran+out+of+the+main+entree+on+a+couple+of+occasions+before+everyone+had+been+served+and+it+was+just+a+noisy%2c+chaotic+mess%2e++My+second+major+complaint+has+to+do+with+the+merit+badge+program%2e++Besides+the+incompetent+instructors+%28that+were+barely+older+than+the+scouts%29+the+program+left+WAY+too+much+free+time+for+the+scouts%2e++Give+adolescent+pre%2dteens+3+hours+of+free+time+and+you%27re+only+asking+for+trouble%2e++Fleischmann+merit+badge+classes+are+scheduled+such+that+each+merit+badge+is+completed+in+one+day+and+the+instructors+almost+always+let+the+boys+out+early%2e++In+contrast%2c+Camp+Wente+merit+badge+classes+span+4+days+and+each+class+lasts+1+hour%2e++It%27s+more+like+a+middle+or+high+school+schedule%2e++At+most%2c+the+boys+would+have+30+minutes+of+free+time+before+the+next+merit+badge+class+started%2e++I+do+NOT+recommend+Fleischmann+for+these+reasons+and+doubt+that+our+troop+would+ever+return%2e%0d%0a
This+camp+was+so+fun+i+really+liked+it%21+I+had+so+much+fun+with+the+people+in+my+troop+to%2e+This+camp+lets+you+do+so+many+activities+also+%21%21%21%21%21%21%21%21%21%21%21%21%21%21%21%21%21+So+if+you+want+to+choose+a+camp+choose+this+one%2e+YAH+Camp+Fleischmann%0d%0a
Our+Cubscout+Pack+went+to+Camp+Flieschman+this+year%2e++We+had+a+great+time%2e++I+have+been+to+many+camps%28Lassen%2c+Pahatsi%2c+Pico+Blanco%2c+Winton%2c+Royaneh%29+and+can+say+that+this+years+staff+was+the+best+I+have+ever+seen%2e++They+went+out+of+their+way+to+make+sure+all+our+boys+needs+were+taken+care+of%2e++Thanks+to+all+the+staff+at+CF+for+a+great+experience%2e%0d%0a
Bad+food%2e++Ran+out+of+food+and+drinks++frequently%2e++With+one+meal%2c+all+they+had+was+water+to+drink%2e+Parking+is+WAY+too+far+away+from+camp+sites%2e+EXTREMELY+dusty%2e+I%27ve+never+seen+one+dustier%2e++Pit+toilets+only+with+lots+of+ants+crawling+all+over%2e+Shared+showers+only+with+inconvenient+shower+time+schedules%2e++Only+ONE+Webelos+achievement+activity%2e++Paddle+boat+leaked+really+bad+and+actually+sank+on+some+campers+in+the+middle+of+the+lake%2e+++Very+steep+hikes+to+camp+sites%2c+especailly+%22Eagels+Nest%2e%22++Not+enough+activites+scheduled+so+too+much+free+time+for+the+boys%2e+Camp+store+the+size+of+a+broom+closet+with+inconvenient+hours%2e++They+were+building+a+new+climbing+wall+and+cutting+metal+with+a+grinder+or+some+tool%2c+which+was+really+loud%2c+with+sparks+flying+all+over+only+a+couple+feet+from+where+boys+were+trying+to+climb%2e+Emergency+response+to+boating+emergencies+is+a+joke%2e++Boat+could+be+on+the+other+side+of+the+lake+and+their+idea+of+emergency+response+is+a+guy+in+a+row+boat+%2d+no+jet+ski+or+motor+boat+for+rescue%2e+It+would+take+a+guy+ten+or+more+minutes+to+get+to+someone+in+a+row+boat+unless+they+were+really+close+to+the+dock%2e+No+orientation+for+first+timers%2e++We%27ll+never+go+to+this+camp+again%2e%0d%0a
I+will+make+no+apologies+for+what+I+am+about+to+say+because+it+NEEDS+to+be+said%3a++I+enjoyed+Camp+Flieschman+as+part+of+the+Nevada+council+for+several+years+in+the+seventies%3b+I+just+turned+53+last+4th+of+July%2e%2e%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aPotential+Scouts%2d%2d+if+you+are+unfortunate+enough+to+have+to+endure+Scout+Camp+with+a+meodramatic+ungrateful++whiner+like+the+person+above+I+actually+feel+sorry+for+you%2e+As+a+Scoutmaster+that+is+something+I+would+rarely+or+never+do%2e+The+best+part+of+scouting+is+that+we+thrive+under+challenging+circumstances+and+we+work+together+to+improve+our+circumstance+through+teamwork+and+commitment+while+holding+each+other+accountable+to+maintain+a+positive+attitude%2d%2dalways%2e+To+the+whiner+above%3a+get+out+of+this+endeavor+you+are+making+the+A+in+BAD+weaker+through+tour+poor+example%2e%0d%0a
Our+Troop+went+to+Fleischmann+for+6+years+on+a+row+and+I+loved+it%2e++It+has+the+best+climbing+program+in+California%2e++Jim+Pruss+has+been+the+climbing+director+for+close+to+40+years+and+really+can+teach%2e++They+have+five+great+climbing+walls+which+are+unmatched+anywhere+in+California%2e++I+really+like+the+staff+because+they+are+older+and+come+back+year+after+year%2e++Mark+Hovermale+Alameda+Troop+2%0d%0a
