Camp+Isom+is+a+160+acre+primitive+camp+located+along+Orestimba+Creek+in+the+Coast+Range%2c+nine+miles+west+of+Newman%2e+It+is+10+miles+south+of+the+Diablo+Grande+Golf+Courses+and+is+situated+at+the+bottom+of+a+steep+canyon+with+a+seasonally+flowing+creek+running+through+it%2e+The+landscape+is+dotted+with+pine%2c+oak%2c+and+sycamore+trees%2c+and+in+the+spring+beautiful+wildflowers+pop+up+everywhere%2e+A+variety+of+animals+are+regularly+seen+wandering+through+the+area+such+as+deer%2c+wild+pig%2c+quail%2c+turkeys%2c+rattlesnakes%2c+squirrels%2c+coyotes%2c+and+mountain+lions+along+with+many+other+creatures+large+and+small%2e+One+prominent+feature+of+Camp+Isom+is+a+permanent+spring+that+empties+into+a+series+of+three+ponds+in+which+fish+and+waterlilies+abound%2e+The+camp+is+three+miles+by+air+and+six+miles+hiking+from+Henry+Coe+State+Park%2e+In+the+past+Scouts+have+hiked+from+Isom+over+to+Coe+Park+and+exited+to+Morgan+Hill%2e+This+is+a+true+wilderness+experience%2e+This+should+be+treated+as+a+primitive+campground+and+campers+must+haul+out+all+trash%2e+There+is+an+outhouse+located+at+the+camp%2e+The+roads+are+dirt+and+should+not+be+attempted+unless+there+has+been+at+least+seven+days+without+rain%2e+The+soil+is+clay+and+impassable+even+by+4%2dwheel+drive+vehicles+after+a+rainstorm%2c+as+the+road+is+very+steep%2e+Pickups+and+4%2dwheel+drive+vehicles+are+recommended%2c+as+the+road+is+rough+in+places+but+well+maintained+for+backroad+travel%2e%0d%0a
