%0d%0a%0d%0a+%0d%0a%0d%0aCamp+John+C%2e+Mensinger+is+the+Greater+Yosemite+Council%27s+long%2dterm+resident+camp%2e+The+camp+is+located+on+168+acres+in+mid+elevation+pine+forest+%284200+ft%2e%29+about+19+miles+drive+in+a+northerly+direction+from+the+town+Strawberry+in+the+Sierras%2e+Pickering+Lumber+Company+deeded+its+Soup+Creek+Logging+Camp+to+the+Yosemite+Area+Council+%28now+Greater+Yosemite+Council%29+in+1969%2e+After+renovation+Camp+Mensinger+was+opened+1976%2c+with+new+and+modern+facilities%2e+This+relatively+isolated+camp+is+conducive+to+an+excellent+camping+experience+for+both+Scouts+and+Scouters%2e+There+are+15+campsites+that+will+accommodate+12+to+24+campers+each%2c+for+a+total+of+264+campers+per+week%2e+There+will+be+6+sessions+at+Camp+Mensinger+in+2001%2e+In+the+off+season+Camp+Mensinger+is+available%2c+to+Scout+Units+and+other+organizations%2c+for+short%2dterm+camping+while+the+road+is+open+%28early+May+to+mid+October%29%2e+There+is+no+electrical+power+or+potable+water+during+the+off+season%2c+so%2c+plan+accordingly%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0a%0d%0a

Camp+Mensinger+is+an+ideal+camp+for+1st+and+2nd+year+Scouts%2e++Excellent+%22Woodsman%22+program+is+offered+for+Scouts+working+on+Tenderfoot%2c+2nd+Class%2c+and+1st+Class+ranks%2e++Large+acreage+allows+for+superior+hiking%2e++Aquatics+program+features+pool+%28Swimming%2c+Lifesaving%29%2c+a+camp+lake+%28Canoeing%2c+Rowing%29%2c+and+nearby+Beardsley+Reservior+%28Small+Boat+Sailing%2c+Motorboating%29%2e++Full+food+service+is+provided+in+excellent+kitchen+and+dining+facility%2e++Camp+Mensinger+is+a+gem+and+is+located+close+to+Stanislaus+National+Forest+and+Yosemite%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aHighly+recommended%2e%0d%0a

I+attended+Camp+Mensinger+for+four+great+years+of+my+Childhood+and+they+are+some+of+the+best+memories+I+have+of+Scouting%2e+The+Songs%2c+Animated+staff+and+such+pearls+as+the+Astronomy+Hike%2c+the+rocker+hikes%28the+lore+of+the+Whistle+Punk+all+the+way+to+the+Bull+of+the+Woods%29+and+great+Campfires+really+endear+this+unto+scouts%2e+I+Highly+recommend+it%2e%0d%0a

Our+Troop+just+got+back+from+Camp+Mensinger%2c+The+tents+are+all+ripped+if+it+rains+your+in+trouble%2c+Merit+badge+classes+cancel+every+day%2cgetting+blue+cards+after+finishing+a+class+is+very+hard%2c+very+unorganized+and+rude+staff%2e+I%27ve+been+going+to+scout+camps+for+many+years+this+is+by+far+the+worst+camp%2e%0d%0a%0d%0a

We+have+attended+Camp+John+Mensinger+twice%2c+2008+and+2013%2e+Both+experiences+have+been+very%2c+very+good%2e+Best+food%2fmeals+of+ANY+Scout+camp+I%27ve+been+to+%28and+I%27ve+been+to+a+lot%29%2e+Staff+is+very+strong%2c+and+very+in%2dtune+with+the+Scouts%2e+This+year%2c+I+watched+the+climbing+instruction+and+wad+very+impressed+with+the+knowledge%2c+care+and+patience+of+the+climbing+staff%2e+The+shooting+sports+and+archery+staff+are+likewise+top+notch+trainers%2c+no+short%2dcuts%2c+and+safety+is+paramount%21+There+are+a+lot+of+unique+opportunities+at+this+camp+for+fun%2e+Merit+badge+program+is+unlike+most+camps%2c+utilizing+a+one+or+two+day+class+session+for+merit+badges+%28example%3a+one+day%2fone+class%2fone+merit+badge%29%2e+This+keeps+the+Scouts+focused+on+the+badge+they+are+working+on%2c+and+keeps+the+transition+time+lost+to+a+minimum%2e+All+of+this+said%2c+no+camp+is+perfect%2e+However%2c+the+current+Camp+Director+is+aware+of+areas+that+need+improvement+and+seems+committed+to+getting+the+improvements+done%2e+Latly%2c+this+is+old+growth+forest+and+it+is+in+a+beautiful++area%2e+I+highly+recommend+checking+out+Camp+John+Mensinger%2e+%0d%0a
