High+adventure+opportunities+abound+in+the+plateau+region+surrounding+Skymont%2e+Other+attractions+such+as+the+Natural+Bridge%2c+Fall+Creek+Falls%2c+TN+Aquarium%2c+Chickamauga+Nat%27l+Battlefield+%28the+largest+Civil+War+Park+in+the+nation%29+caves%2c+public+natural+areas+and+more+are+within+a+1%2d1+and+a+half+hour+drive+of+Skymont%2e%0d%0a

This+is+a+fine+camp+in+a+beautiful+location%2e+The+Project+COPE+is+excellent%2c+and+they+plan+to+add+an+advanced+COPE+next+year%2e+Their+Polaris+program+%28Tenderfoot+through+First+Class+emphasis%29+was+very+well+run+with+competent+counselors%2e+All+meals+are+in+the+dining+hall%2c+served+family+style%2c+and+are+good%2c+but+there+usually+was+no+seconds+on+the+meat+dish%2e+Proximity+to+cliffs%2c+caves+and+whitewater+makes+for+good+treks+for+older+boys%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0aDavid+Fresch%2c+Scoutmaster+%0d%0aTroop+992%2c+Sam+Houston+Area+Council+%0d%0a%0d%0a

SKYMONT+IS+A+NICE+CAMP+IN+A+BEAUTIFUL+PART+OF+OUR+COUNTRY%2e++WE+HAD+A+PRETTY+GOOD+WEEK%3b+THE+BOYS+EARNED+A+FEW+MERIT+BADGES%2e++FOOD+WAS+OK%2c+BUT+NOTHING+TO+WRITE+HOME+ABOUT+LIKE+IT+WAS+FOR+US+IN+2002%21+WE+SURE+MISSED+KIM+%26+CINDY+IN+THE+KITCHEN%2e++THE+STAFF+WAS+VERY+FRIENDLY+TO+US%2c+BUT+NOT+TO+EACH+OTHER%2e++HOPE+THEY+CAN+WORK+IT+ALL+OUT+BY+2006%2e%0d%0a

Great+1st+year+program%2e++MB+counsellors+were+good%2e++Food+service+not+up+to+quality+of+previous+camps%2e++Weather+was+good%2e++Not+too+hot%2e++Boy+had+a+good+experience%2e%0d%0a

Skymont+is+a+good+camp+and+I+earned+some+merit+badges%2e+The+1st+year+program+is+good+but+the+food+wasn%27t+that+good+and+there+wasn%27t+that+much+of+it%2e+They+have+a+good+shooting+sports+complex%2e+Their+aquatics+program+is+pretty+good+too%2e+The+weather+was+a+little+rainy+but+it+was+nice+and+cool%2e+The+scenery+was+nice+and+I+saw+a+good+bit+of+wildlife%2e+%0d%0a

the+first+time+i+went+to+skymont+will+be+a+summer+camp+i+will+never+forget%2e+i+give+it+my+high+recomendation%2e%0d%0a

Went+to+skymont+in+2002%2c2003%2c2004%2e++Food+in+the+beginning+was+ok%2e++By+2004+not+enough+food+and+food+quality+was+not+good%2e++MB+program+was+fair%2c+swim+program+was+good%2e++%0d%0a

2006+%2d+Poor+food+due+to+some+staffing+problems%2c+not+enough+food+at+times%2c+virtually+no+Scout+Spirit+activities%2e+Nice+facilities+%26+some+of+the+staff+were+very+friendly+and+helpful%2e+Merit+badge+counselors+were+patient+and+did+a+good+job%2e+Pretty+decent+experience%2e++%0d%0a

Our+Troop+went+in+June+of+2005%2e++We+always+go+to+an+early+summer+camp+to+make+it+easy+for+our+boys+to+go+to+summer+school%2c+maybe+we+would+have+had+a+better+experience+after+the+monsoon+season%2e++It+rained+every+day%2c+and+it+felt+like+we+spent+more+night+hours+in+the+Lodge+for+tornado+alerts+than+we+did+asleep+in+our+tents%2e++I+was+exhausted+by+the+end+of+the+week%2c+and+I+got+a+horrible+yeast+rash+running+up+my+calves+that+made+walking+miserable+by+Wednesday%2e++The+food+and+programming+was+fine%2c+but+not+exceptional%2e++It+was+nice+to+not+have+to+cook%2e++I+don%27t+see+our+returning+there+as+even+a+remote+possibility%2c+although+I+gather+from+the+other+comments+that+July%2fAug+camping+is+quite+pleasant%2e%0d%0a

I+am+saddened+by+these+comments+about+Skymont%2e++I+used+to+be+on+the+camp+staff+for+Skymont+back+in+1992%2e++Fred+Hickey+was+my+scoutmaster+from+Troop+62+in+Ringgold+Georgia%2e++In+1992%2c+the+camp+was+great+fun%2c+food+was+good+and+the+activities+were+excellent%2e++I+wonder+what+has+happened+to+this+camp+in+the+most+recent+years+%3a%28++Any+ideas+from+the+Scout+Council+to+improve+the+quality+of+this+fine+Camp%3f++%0d%0a

Returned+from+Skymont+this+morning%2e+Great+Camp%2c+Great+Setting%2e+Yes+it+rained+but+I%27ve+been+rained+on+at+other+camps+in+the+past%2e+Remember+the+camp+doesn%27t+control+the+weather%2e+Family+style+dining+was+fantastic+as+one+Scout+Master+said+%22It+took+the+foot+race+out+of+dinning%22+Our+boys+enjoyed+the+programs%2e+Would+recommend%2e+%0d%0a

The+Who+Dat+Nation+returned+from+Skymont+Scout+Reservation%2c+the+Camp+was+great+staff+had+some+issues+and+the+food+was+not+balanced+well+we+would+not+recommend%2c+Troop+317+Destrehan+Louisiana+Adventures+Everywhere+Michael+J%2e+Kinler+Scoutmaster%0d%0a

Skymont+was+a+mixed+bag%2e++The+property+that+the+camp+is+located+on+is+a+beautiful+mountain+plateau+just+outside+of+Altamont%2e++Overall+it+is+a+tremendous+value+but+it+has+some+issues+that+should+be+corrected+in+order+for+them+to+compete+with+the+several+premium+camps+in+the+Southeast+%28Daniel+Boone%2c+Robert+Woodruff%2c+and+Camp+Rainey+Mountain%29%2e++%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+Best%3a++Plateau+Plunge+run+by+a+third+party+outfitter%2e++Our+boys+had+a+blast%2c+the+facilities+were+excellent+and+the+food+was+very+good%2e++If+you+can+participate+%2e+%2e+%2e+Do+it%21%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+Good%3a++Great+camp+director+and+program+director+%28they+are+new+and+really+trying+to+change+things+for+the+better%3a+kudos%29%3b+great+merit+badge+counselors+%28average+age+is+about+20%29%3b+Dana+and+Jake+ran+a+really+great+Cope+Program%3b+Dining+Hall+staff+was+good%3b+tents+have+concrete+pads+instead+of+wooden+floors%3b+with+the+addition+of+flush+toilets+in+the+latrines+they+are+very+good+%28lower+smell+because+there+is+no+open+pit%29%3b+central+bathrooms+are+very+well+maintained%3b+waterfront+is+well+run+but+the+number+of+merit+badges+is+small%3b+the+rifle%2c+shotgun+and+archery+ranges+are+very+good+but+a+little+far+off+from+camp%3b+canteen+was+reasonably+well+stocked+and+Alicia+was+very+friendly%3b+Polaris+was+very+good%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+Bad%3a++The+tents+are+the+1940%92s+green+canvas+tents+and+they+are+worn+out%2e++Mine+had+several+%93skylights%94+due+to+wear%2e++Thankfully+ours+was+the+only+week+it+did+not+rain%2e++It+is+time+to+replace+them+with+modern+nylon+platform+tents%2e++The+showers+are+all+outdoors%2e++They+are+of+the+same+design+as+they+were+in+1973+%2e+%2e+%2e+very+out+dated%2e++It+is+time+to+look+at+the+shower+facilities+in+other+camps+in+the+Southeast+and+tear+these+down%2e++%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+Very+Bad%3a++The+quality+of+the+food+served+in+the+dining+hall+was+very%2c+very+subpar%2e++Mrs%2e+Lee+runs+a+good+Dining+Hall+staff+but+the+quality+of+food+she+receives+is+the+worst+I+have+had+in+any+camp+ever%2e++It+is+worse+than+school+cafeteria+food%2e++The+meats+served+are+of+the+cheapest+quality+and+very+low+in+quantity%3b+the+milk+was+always+one+day+from+expired%3b+etc%2e%2c+etc%2e++I+could+go+on+but+to+say+it+was+bad+just+scratches+the+surface%2e++Summer+2015%0d%0a%0d%0a
