My+troop+used+this+camp+when+we+visited+Wyandotte+Cave%2e+The+Camp+Master+was+wonderful%2e+Our+boys+really+enjoyed+their+stay+at+Tunnel+Mill%2e+It+is+a+beautiful+camp%2e+++%0d%0aK%2eG%2e%2c+ASM+Troop+301%2c+Fowler+IN%2e+%0d%0a

This+is+an+old+time+scout+camp+in+the+%22knobs%22+of+Southern+Indiana+tucked+inside+an+oxbow+bend+in+Fourteen+Mile+Creek+which+flows+into+the+Ohio+River+near+Charlestown%2e+The+camp+gets+its+name+from+the+Tunnel+Mill+built+and+run+there+by+John+Works%2c+a+veteran+of+the+War+of+1812%2e+He+figured+out+that+if+he+could+dig+a+tunnel+through+the+limestone+bluff+forming+the+inside+of+the+creek+bend%2c+he+could+get+a+greater+flow+of+water+to+his+mill+wheel%2e+His+original+dam%2c+tunnel+and+mill+wheel+still+exist+on+the+reservation+along+with+his+home+and+family+cemetary%2e+The+camp+is+relatively+small+and+is+now+used+for+Cub+Scout++camping+and+for+unit+camping+trips%2e+The+cliffs+are+sheer%2c+the+creek+is+pretty%2c+and+the+campsites+well+separated%2e+Some+buildings+are+available+to+units+for+a+small+fee%2e+Just+a+nice+old+camp+that+the+kids+love+dearly%2e+Since+its+founding+in+the+1920%27s%2c+generations+of+kids+have+loved+this+place%2e%0d%0a

Tunnel+Mill+is+a+wonderful+camp%2e++I+spent+several+years+there+at+Summer+Camp%2e++Now+my+son+is+a+Cub+Scout+and+he+and+enjoy+it+together%2e%0d%0a

Living+just+down+the+road+from+this+camp+and+being+a+Cub+Leader%2c+we+was+horrified+when+the+local+council+decided+to+ruin+the+camp+by+putting+in+a+playground+and+a+pirate+ship+in+the+main+program+area%2e++While+we+are+happy+the+council+put+money+into+the+camp%2c+it+could+have+been+spent+on+repair+of+the+cabins%2c+new+picnic+tables%2c+range+equipment%2c+and+a+host+of+other+improvements+for+the+program%2e++The+previous+year%2c+Fort+Tunnel+Mill+was+added+in+the+%22Pioneer%22+campsite%2c+this+is+less+of+a+distraction+as+it+blends+in+better+to+the+buildings+that+are+there%2e++As+states+before+the+Pirate+Ship+is+located+on+the+%22Scoutmaster+Flats%22++And+is+a+distration+during+District%2fCouncil+events%2e++And+the+playground+makes+it+difficult+for+the+younger+boys+to+concentrate+on+the+program+as+they+want+to+%22play+on+the+playground%22%0d%0a%0d%0aTunnel+Mill+is+still+a+beautiful+camp%2e%0d%0a

Wonderful+historic+camp+near+Louisville+Kentucky%2e+It+dates+back+to+1927+as+a+Boy+scout+camp%2e+The+camp+is+nestled+around+14+mile+creek+which+is+surrounded+by+cliffs%2e+It+is+a+heavily+wooded%2c+but+well+established+camp%2e+A+variety+of+winter+camping+facilities+are+available+in+rustic+cabins%2c+some+of+which+date+back+to+the+1930%27s%2e+The+camp+is+now+used+primarily+as+a+Cub+camp+during+the+summer+but+hosts+units+and+council+events+during+the+rest+of+the+year%2e+It+has+tremendous+history+being+the+site+of+an+old+pioneer+mill+and+a+remarkable+engineering+achievement+for+1816%2c+the+construction+of+a+tunnel+through+the+limestone+ridge+to+feed+water+to+the+mill%2e+The+tunnel+%28although+closed%29%2c+old+dam+and+last+remains+of+the+old+mill+are+still+visible%2e+The+Charlestown+State+Park+and+the+town+of+Charlestown+are+both+within+5+miles%2e+This+is+one+of+our+troop%27s+favorite+sites%2e+More+information+is+available+at+our+troop%27s+website+%2d+www%2ebsatroop1%2eus%2e+Look+under+the+Tunnel+Mill+section+and+in+the+archived+videos%2e%0d%0a
