It can be a bit crowded in the summer, but this is one of the best fall camping spots in Mid-Minnesota. We did a very successful compass course here. There is plenty of flat terrain, a few steep hills, and a fire tower. Like all state forests, you can camp anywhere--not just in the designated campgrounds.
