Camp+Tahuaya+is+147+acres+of+beautiful+forest+on+the+Lampasas+River+four+miles+south+of+Belton%2c+Texas+off+Interstate+35%2e+A+deliberate+effort+has+been+made+to+maintain+the+camp+in+a+setting+of+rustic+isolation%2c+yet+provide+the+exciting+program+resources+needed+for+today%92s+Scouts%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+camp+holds+the+largest+natural+spring+in+Texas+and+has+a+rich+lore+of+history%2e%0d%0a++%0d%0aThe+sparkling+springs+attracted+the+camps+and+burial+grounds+of+pre%2dhistoric+Plainview+Man%2c+and+later+for+the+Native+of+several+tribes%2e+It+has+known+the+Spanish+Conquistadors+who+built+their+forts+and%2c+according+to+legend%2c+buried+their+gold%2e+The+Old+Military+Road%2c+a+part+of+the+Chisholm+Trail%2c+and+the+Shanklin+Mill+brought+thousands+of+wagons+to+the+spring+and+carved+deep+ruts+in+the+stone+by+our+lake%2e+The+stone+fences%2c+plentiful+arrowheads%2c+Military+Road%2c+and+the+millrace+are+visible+reminders+of+Camp+Tahuaya%92s+frontier+heritage%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0a

We+went+to+council+camp+April+10%2e++Latrines+not+fit+to+use%2c+1+bathroom+facility+with+running+water+for+entire+camp%2e++Food+horrible%2e++Activites+haphazard+at+best%2e++Long+hike+thru+tall+grass+for+archery+and+BB%2e++Little+or+no+signs%2e++Grass+not+mowed+anywhere+so+past+your+waist%2e++For+the+largest+council+in+Texas%2c+we+would+expect+more%2e++For+leaders%2c+it%27s+rough+but+our+kids+loved+it%2e%0d%0a
