Camp+Shenandoah+was+established+in+1950+and+has+always+stressed+quality+programming+for+the+development+of+Scouts%2e%2e+It+consists+of+325+acres+of+beautiful+wooded+ground+on+the+Appalachian+Mountain+Range+in+the+Shenandoah+Valley%2e+Camp+Shenandoah+is+located+15+minutes+west+of+Staunton%2c+Virginia+and+is+owned+and+operated+by+the+Stonewall+Jackson+Area+Council%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aLocal+and+visiting+Troops+from+areas+such+as+Florida%2c+New+Jersey%2c+Maryland+and+West+Virginia+have+enjoyed+their+visits+to+Camp+Shenandoah%2e+We+welcome+your+interest+and+will+do+all+we+can+to+make+your+visit+to+our+Camp+a+great+experience+for+your+Troop%0d%0a%0d%0a
Summer+2006+%2d+Nice+merit+badge+and+high+adventure+program%2e+First+year+program+way+understaffed%2e+Food+was+good+and+plentiful%2e+Very+efficient+mess+hall%2e+Would+not+return+with+first+year+scouts%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0a
Our+troop+went+there+in+the+summer+of+2006%2c+and+we+never+want+to+go+back+ever+again%2e+The+food+was+absolutely+terrible%2e+The+supposed+%22swimming+area%22+is+about+as+clean+as+a+sewage+lake%2e+The+trading+post+is+small+and+cramped%2c+causing+long+lines+that+wrapped+around+the+entire+building%2e+The+latrines+were+so+bad+that+none+of+the+younger+scouts+wanted+to+even+go+near+them%2e+The+shotgun+range+was+up+a+steep+ravine+that+just+screamed+%22HEART+ATTACK%21%22+at+you%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aTo+be+honest%2c+It+has+to+be+one+of+the+worst+scout+camps+in+the+state+of+Virginia%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0aPlease+take+my+word+on+it+when+I+say%2c+%22Avoid+going+to+this+scout+camp%2c+you+will+regret+it%2e%22+We%27ve+told+countless+troops+in+our+council+to+avoid+this+camp%2c+and+they+have%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aTroop+313+Newport+News%2c+VA%0d%0a
Attended+here+summer+of+2008%2e++Food+was+good%2c+staff+is+great%2c+programming+is+outstanding%2e++Tents+could+use+a+little+care+but%2c+overall+was+a+fantastic+week%21%0d%0a%0d%0aGlad+to+hear+we+won%27t+be+competing+with+CVC+for+spots+next+time%21++%0d%0a%0d%0aASM+Troop+504%2c+Va+Beach%0d%0a
Went+in+June+2009%2e+Had+a+great+time%2e++Timber+Mountain+program+for+new+scouts+was+great%2e++Lake+was+great+for+swimming+and+all+our+fishermen+caught+fish%2e%0d%0a
Our+troop+attends+this+camp+every+other+year+and+it+keeps+getting+better+every+time+we+return%2e++%0d%0aIt+is+a+great%2c+%22old+school%22+camp%2c+without+pirate+ships+or+a+Hogwarts+theme%2e++%0d%0aIn+the+past+several+years%2c+many+latrines+have+been+upgraded%2e++The+trading+post+was+replaced+with+a+larger+building+last+summer+after+the+previous+one+burned%2e++%0d%0aI+am+amazed+by+the+comment+that+the+shotgun+range+is+a+heart+attack+threat+%2d+there+are+multiple+accesses+to+the+shooting+sports+areas+and+the+small+hill+it+is+on+screams+%22heart+attack%22+only+to+the+most+out%2dof%2dshape%2e++Clearly%2c+one+poster+above+had+an+agenda%2e%2e%2e%0d%0a
Summer+2013+%2d+Camp+in+good+physical+shape%2e++Lake+was+full+and+no+algae+issues%2e++Wide+variety+of++merit+badges+for+our+scouts%2e++Latrines+are+new+as+are+the+tents%2e++They+still+have+some+old+cots+that+need+replacing+in+some+campsites%2e++Dining+hall+food+is+pretty+good+%28but+why+not+allow+boys+to+drink+milk+at+every+meal%3f%29%2e++Fast+service+in+chow+line%2e+Plenty+of+shade%3b+nice+hiking+nearby%2e++Large+trading+post+that+sells+as+much+candy+as+the+kids+will+eat+%28to+my+consternation%29%2e%0d%0a%0d%0a
