Camp+Alaflo+Scout+Camp+is+located+in+New+Brockton%2c+Alabama%2e+The+adventure+of+summer+camp+at+Camp+Alaflo+upholds+the+ideas+of+Scouting+and+keeps+the+promise+of+%22fun+with+a+purpose%22+flourishing%2e+It+is+no+wonder+that+the+destination+for+many+campers+in+the+summer+is+Camp+Alaflo%2e+The+camp+has+13+campsites%2c+ranging+in+size+from+two+to+six+patrol+sites%2c+in+an+idealic+woods+setting+with+running+water+in+each+site%2e+Camp+Alaflo+is+proud+of+its+large+modern+shower+facilties+with+separate+showers+and+toilets+for+men%2c+women%2c+and+youth%2e+Meals+are+served+in+a+large+enclosed+dining+hall+which+is+air+conditioned+and+can+double+as+a+classroom+and+theater+with+multiple+large+wall+mounted+TV%2fVideo+sets%2e+%0d%0aIn+addition+to+summer+camp%2c+Camp+Alaflo+can+offer+troops+camping+at+other+times+of+the+year+an+ideal+setting+in+one+of+its+13+improved+camp+sites%2e+Alaflo+Scout+Reservation+also+has+a+number+of+cabins+that+can+accommadate+up+to+10+people%2e+Please+contact+the+Boy+Scout+Service+Area+Office+in+Dothan%2c+Alabama+for+more+information+on+availability+of+camp+sites+and+cabins+and+cost+information%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0a
This+is+by+far+the+best+scout+camp+I%27ve+attended%21+Thers%27s+2+excellent+lakes%2c+1+very+large+lake+for+fishing+%26+conoes+%26+1+for+swimming+with+several+ability+areas%2e+The+food+is+always+awsome+%28Hard+to+believe+but+true%29+I+gain+weight+each+year+rather+than+lose+it+at+camp+there+%26+it%27s+has+a+great+dining+facility%2e+The+staff+is+top+notch+every+year+I%27ve+attended+%28repeat+your+scout+law+%26+that%27s+them%29+Great+Hot+showers+too%2e+Water+at+every+camp+site+%26+great+facilities%2e+Excellent+trails%2c+nature%2c+wildlife%2c+%26+excellent+merit+badges+classes+%26+lots+of+them+to+choose+from%2e++%0d%0a
Camp+Alaflo+is+one+of+the+best%2d%2d%2dwhen+I+say+best+I+mean+best%21%21%21+I+have+attended+Camp+Alaflo%27s+Summer+Camp+every+year+for+two+years%2c+and+this+will+be+my+third%2e+I+love+Camp+Alaflo%21%21%21+I+am+a+member+of+Troop+18+in+Ozark%2c+Alabama%2c+and+our+Troop+loves+Camp+Alaflo%2e+I+am+about+to+begin+my+packing+for+this+year%27s+summer+camp%2e+they+have+wonderful+showers%2c+wonderful+food%2c+wonderful+nature+programs%2c+wonderful+campsites%2c+wonderful+merit+badge+programs%2c+wondeful+staff%2c+wonderful+cooks%2c+and+wonderful+trails%2e+Well%2d+I+cant+think+of+very+much+more+to+add+to+this+right+now%2doh+yeah+every+campsite+recently+got+pavillions%2e+And+of+course+there+is+a+GREAT+trading+post%2d+I+sure+love+my+ice+cream+from+there+every+day+during+the+hot+week%21+Well+I+love+Camp+Alaflo%21%21+Stop+by+and+see+it+for+yourself%2e++%0d%0a
Our+troop+attended+summer+camp+at+Alaflo+in+summer+2007%2e++This+camp+proved+to+live+up+to+all+the+glowing+comments+of+previous+bloggers%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+sites%3a++Great+layout%2e++Lots+of+distance+between+campsites%2e++Very+wooded+feel+in+shaded+sites%2e++You+really+feel+like+you%92re+camping%2e++Some+Adirondacks+but+mostly+wall+tents+on+platforms%2e+Most+sites+have+a+covered+pavilion+with+picnic+tables%2e++Pit+latrines%2c+running+water%2c+showers+%28cold%29+in+each+site%2e++%0d%0a%0d%0aThat+staff%3a++OUTSTANDING%21++From+the+camp+director+on+down%2e++Dedicated+to+making+our+experience+second+to+none%2e+Couldn%92t+do+enough+for+us%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0aPrograms%3a++All+the+standard+merit+badge+programs+plus+a+few+special+merit+badges+like+auto+mechanics+and+archeology%2e++Several+themed+events+in+the+evenings%3a+sports+competition%2c+movie+night%2c+and+board+game+night%2e+Excellent+first+year+camper+program%2c+known+as+Rawhide%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0aTerrain%3a++This+part+of+Alabama+is+near+Enterprise%2e++Elevation+is+about+300%92%2e++Rolling+terrain+with+a+mix+of+mature+hardwoods+and+conifers%2e++Days+were+in+the+90s+but+nights+were+cool%2c+sometimes+needing+a+blanket%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0aWaterfront%3a++Two+lakes%2e++The+larger+lake+for+boating%2c+the+smaller+for+swimming%2e++Water+temperature+and+clarity+were+just+right%2e++Free+swim+everyday%2e++In+2007%2c+the+camp+put+all+aquatic+activities+in+the+smaller+lake+to+consolidate+staff%2e++Not+sure+how+this+will+be+done+in+future+years%2e+Keeping+the+two+activities+in+separate+lakes+would+be+better%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0aDining+Hall%3a++Outstanding%21++Facility+comfortably+seats+the+entire+encampment%3b+campers+and+staff%2c+for+family+style+meals%2e+Good+menu+selections+and+well+prepared%2e++Seconds+at+every+meal%2e++Real+china%2e+Only+the+napkins+are+throw+away%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0aCamp+spirit%3a++An+intangible+that+reflects+the+heart+and+soul+of+the+camp%2e++This+camp+was+established+in+1958+and+next+year+will+celebrate+its+50th+anniversary%2e+++They+have+a+sense+of+tradition+and+purpose+that+crosses+generations%2e++%0d%0a%0d%0aOverall+this+camp+is+a+great+choice+if+you%92re+looking+for+a+small+camp+with+lots+personal+attention%2e++Our+scouts+had+a+great+time%2c+as+did+the+leaders%2e++Highly+recommended%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0a
Our+Troop+from+the+Atlanta+area+also%2c+like+the+previous+commenter%2c+attended+ALAFLO+in+2007%2e++This+was+the+first+Camp+that+I+had+attended+as+a+Leader+for+the+full+week%2e++I+wish+that+I+had+noticed+the+%22Camps%22+info+tab+on+the+USSSP+site+before%2c+so+that+I+could+add+my+compliments+to+this+Camp+and+the+wonderful+staff+that+summer%2e++I+agree+with+all+the+previous+glowing+comments+about+ALAFLO%2e++Our+Troop+likes+to+go+to+different+Camps+each+summer+so+we+get+around+and+experience+different+Camps%2e++Since+my+son+and+I+joined+the+Troop%2c+we+have+been+to+Camps+in+NC%2c+FL%2c+and+this+one+in+AL%2e++Our+Scouts+prefer+smaller+camps%2c+family+style+dining%2c+and+good+food%2e++They+got+all+of+that+at+ALAFLO%2c+and+were+in+favor+of+returning+there+after+only+two+years%3b+we%27re+returning+next+week%2e+%282009%29++Our+Leaders+like+the+fact+that+the+classes+were+small+and+the+Staff+provided+a+lot+of+personal+attention%2e++They+truly+did+their+best+to+make+the+experience+a+great+one+for+our+Scouts+and+Leaders%2e++I+also+look+forward+to+returning%2e%0d%0a
