The+Eagle+River+Camp+is+located+22+miles+north+of+Juneau+on+the+coast%2e+In+operation+since+1925%2c+the+campground+terrain+consists+of+forest+and+a+large+grassy+wetland%2e+The+camp+is+accessible+by+boat+or+a+1%2e5+mile+hike+on+an+improved+trail%2e+S%2eE%2e+Alaska+Co%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0a
My+son+and+I+went+there+this+year+for+camp%2c+the+walk+in+is+worth+the+entire+trip%2c+it+is+beautiful%2e++The+camp+is+friendly%2c+laid+back+and+very+compact%2e++We+loved+the+weather%2c+even+if+it+did+drizzle+for+half+the+week%2c+it+was+cool%2c+but+a+good+rain+jacket+and+boots+will+solve+the+wet%2e++The+merit+badge+instructors+were+first+class%2c+with+Oceanography+being+taught+by+a+local+oceanographer+from+the+NOAA+station%2c+mammal+studies+and+fly+fishing+by+Alaska+Fish+and+Wildlife+members%2c+Canoing+and+Kayak+by+a+professional+who+works+with+this+stuff+all+the+time%2e++Even+Fingerprinting+was+taught+by+the+Juneau+Chief+of+Police+and+one+of+his+detectives%2e++How+many+other+camps+can+you+sit+on+the+deck+of+the+dinning+hall+and+watch+a+fishing+fleet+working+just+a+couple+hundred+yards+away%2c+and+have+the+boys+hand+catch+inch+long+flounders+in+the+tidal+area+at+low+tide%2c+all+the+while+with+eagles+flying+overhead%2e++The+final+project+for+the+welding+merit+badge+was+either+a+jet+airplane+or+a+soaring+eagle%2c+both+looked+great%2c+but+I+am+glad+I+didn%27t+have+to+pack+one+out%2e++If+your+looking+for+something+that+is+more+like+what+I+think+camp+used+to+be+like%2c+then+give+this+camp+a+try%2e++It+will+be+nice+to+have+to+worry+more+about+trench+foot+than+heat+exhaustion%2e%0d%0a
