This+is+our+troop%27s+favorite+camp%2e+2%2c400+acres+in+true%2c+pristine+wilderness%2e++Nesting+Eagles%2c+Ospreys%2c+Loons+etc%2e+We+get+a+lot+of+older+scouts+to+return+here+for+several+years%2c+due+to+the+fine+High+Adventure+program%2e+Myself%2c+I%27ve+seen+about+30+scout+camps+over+the+years+and+this+one+is+also+my+favorite%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aWill+Wakon%0d%0aTroop+176%0d%0a%0d%0a

Camp+Wilderness+is+located+near+Park+Rapids%2c+MN+and+is+operated+by+the+Northern+Lights+Council%2e+The+Council%27s+main+Service+Center+is+Located+in+Fargo%2c+ND%2e+Wilderness+offers+year+round+camping+experiences%2c+having+heated+cabins+available+for+winter+camping+and+a+full+summer+of+week+long+camp%2e++%0d%0a%0d%0aWinter+activities+include+hiking%2c+skiing%2c+snowshoeing%2c+ice+fishing%2c+and+the+always+popular+sliding+hill%2e+Earn+your+zero+hero+badge+by+sleeping+out+in+below+zero+weather%2e+%0d%0aSummer+brings+a+full+camp+program+of+boating%2c+swimming%2c+canoeing%2c+fishing%2c+camping%2c+cooking%2c+shooting%2c+cope%2c+and+more+merit+badge+earning+opportunities%2e++%0d%0a%0d%0a

This+was+our+troop%27s+first+year+at+Wilderness%2e+There+may+be+another+camp+out+there+as+good+%28I+haven%27t+found+it%29%2c+but+none+better%2e++The+programs+are+exceedingly+well+executed%2c+with+appeal+from+first+year+to+senior+Scouts%2e++The+management+embodies+the+principles+of+continuous+quality+improvement%2e++Unmatched+counselor+to+camper+ratio+in+all+programs+I+observed%2e%0d%0a

Our+troop+has+been+going+to+Many+Point+for+at+least+10+years+running%2e++This+year+we+tried+Camp+Wilderness%2c+a+camp+the+same+size+as+Many+Point+%282%2c400+ares%29%2c+but+serving+a+much+smaller+council%2e++%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+scouts+unanimously+preferred+Wilderness+to+Many+Point%2e++They+liked+the+waterfront+better+%28they+have+the+large+size+Aquajump%29%2e+Also%2c+boys+can+use+kayaks+and+boardsails+at+the+main+beach+%28at+Many+Point%2c+they+had+to+be+13+AND+had+to+get+a+ride+to+the+High+Adventure+camp+beach%29%2e+Wilderness+offers+a+full+15+hour+COPE+course+%28Many+Point+does+the+partial+day+sampler%29%2e+Also%2c+boys+with+Motorboating+Merit+badge+can+check+out+motorboats+for+fishing+during+free+time%2c+which+was+a+hit%2e++Both+scouts+and+adults+found+the+food+excellent+%28as+was+our+experience+with+Many+Point%29%2e++The+staff+seemed+to+have+a+much+better+attitude+than+Many+Point+and+were+very+flexible%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aBeware%2c+this+camp+is+catching+on+and+reservations+are+already+full+for+some+2003+weeks%2e+++%0d%0a

I+attended+Camp+Wilderness+2+years+ago+and+I+personally+thought+that+the+camp+was+crummy%2e+WE+were+out+of+council+and+the+staff+talked+to+every+single+troop+except+for+ours%2c+and+Clearlake%27s+troop+also+from+our+council%2e+It+did+not+feel+like+the+camp+was+set+up+for+scouts%2c+everything+was+so+far+away+from+everything+else%2e+The+swimming+area+was+very+small+and+the+lifeguards+seemed+to+not+care+about+our+safety%2e+We+even+caught+a+few+staff+laughing+about+one+of+our+scouts+infront+of+their+other+classes+but+behind+our+backs%2e+The+camp+also+seems+out+of+date%2e+All+the+buildings+seemed+old+and+falling+apart%2e+The+trading+post+was+too+small+for+the+camp%2c+and+the+speakers+outside+during+the+morning+announcements+did+not+work+very+well%2c+just+get+rido+of+them+and+use+your+voices%2e+If+I+were+to+grade+this+camp+I+would+give+it+a+D+average+and+I+am+being+nice+giving+them+that%2e+I+have+been+to+MANY+MANY+CAMPS+and+this+is+the+worst+one+I+have+found%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aKevin+J%2e+Van+Duyn%0d%0aSioux+Council%2c+Sioux+Falls%2c+South+Dakota%0d%0aTroop+255+Madison%2c+South+Dakota%0d%0a

We+just+got+back+from+Wilderness+about+3+weeks+ago+%28attended+June+15%2d21%2c+2008%29+and+the+camp+is+not+in+disrepair+or+anything+like+that%2e++It+was+an+excellent+experience+for+all+of+us%2c+15+boys+ages+11%2d15+%289+or+10+first+year+scouts%29+and+10+adults%2e++They+offer+a+wide+range+of+merit+badges+and+great+facilities%2e++Yes%2c+the+camp+seems+spread+out+a+bit%2c+however%2c+who+wants+to+camp+on+top+of+another+troop%2e++The+food+was+excellent+for+the+first+week+of+camp%2c+facilities+were+in+average+to+excellent+condition+and+the+staff+was+more+than+helpful+and+did+actually+go+out+of+their+way+to+make+the+experience+fun+for+everyone+regardless+of+age+and+experience%2e++Myself+and+3+other+adults+attended+most+of+the+adult+training+offered+and+the+Adult+COPE+both+high+and+low%2e++There+was+great+supervision+of+the+waterfront+where+the+canoes%2c+kayaks%2c+rowboats%2c+board+sails+could+all+be+used+by+the+scouts%2e++The+motorboats+were+open+for+use+with+the+badges+and+free+time%2e++The+lake+was+in+good+condition%2e++I+just+can%27t+say+how+great+the+experience+was%2e++All+the+scouts+want+to+return+next+year%2c+and+even+some+didn%27t+want+to+leave+after+the+week%2e++The+management%2c+quartermaster+and+ranger+there+were+top+notch+and+you+could+ask+them+anything+and+they+were+extremely+willing+to+help+or+accommodate+and+just+make+the+whole+day+excellent%2e++There+was+some+severe+weather+the+first+night+and+we+were+taken+care+of+with+ample+time+to+get+to+permanent+shelter%2e++I+just+cannot+express+my+gratitude+enough+for+the+staff+and+environment%2c+it+was+just+perfect+for+everyone%21%21%21%0d%0a%0d%0a

i+attended+this+camp+for+my+first+year+of+scouting+in+2007%2e+it+is+a+terrific+camp+with+an+awesome+lake+and+lots+of+activities%2e+definitely+an+opportunity+you+don%27t+want+to+miss+out+on%2e%0d%0a

in+regards+to+the+post+on+march+14%2c+2008%2c+i+would+beg+to+differ%2e+it+just+sounds+like+someone+got+their+little+feelings+hurt%2e+go+cry+to+mommy%21+this+camp+rocks+and+noone+can+deny+it%2e%0d%0a

Our+troop+just+return+from+another+week+at+Camp+Wilderness%2e++We+always+attend+the+week+of+July+4th%2e++We+find+the+counselor%2dscout+ratio+to+be+very+good%2e++The+camp+has+a+great+waterfront+area+with+many+options+to+participate+there%2e++They+have+a+number+of+choices+in+the+scout+craft+area+%26+the+canoe+outpost+%26+cope+for+the+older+scouts%2e++We+have+the+boys+attending+the+trailblazer+program+to+learn+the+basics+of+scouting+for+rank+advancement%2e++Many+required+merit+badges+are+offered+for+the+eagle+rank%2e++Food+is+always+good%2e++Staff+in+all+areas+of+the+camp+were+very+helpful%2e++If+you+haven%27t+been+there%2c+check+it+out%21+You+will+have+a+GREAT+time%21++The+adults+can+receive+training%2c+do+adult+COPE%2c+and+participate+with+the+boys+in+most+areas+during+open+time%2e++Fun+for+all%21%0d%0a

I+just+got+back+from+my+seventh+summer+camp+at+Wilderness+%28two+as+Webelos%3b+five+as+Boy+Scout%29%2e++The+management+of+the+camp+is+top+notch%2e++As+an+indication+of+what+the+scouts+think+about+the+camp%2c+I+can+say+that+of+the+7+boys+that+I+took+as+Webelos+%28now+15+year+olds%29%2c+6+of+them+just+finished+their+seventh+summer+at+Wilderness+with+me%2e%0d%0a
