Eagle Cave is a natural limestone cave which is privately owned. The owners make the cave available to Scouts and other groups for Cave Camping. Sleep in the cave or tent camp outside. In addition to cave exploring, there are several hiking trails on the property. Horses are available for trail rides, though these fill up fast. There is a dining hall which serves three meals a day, or you can do your own cooking outside. Our scouts love this place!

Eagle Cave is the only cave we know of; where the Scouts are encouraged to explore, climb, & touch anything in the cave. A magnificent learning tool.

While+the+cave+is+still+a+great+experience%2c+land+access+issues+have+made+the+availability+of+horses+to+ride+doubtful%2e++When+hiking+the+trails%2c+it+is+important+not+to+get+off+the+trail+because+one+of+the+surrounding+land+owners+is+very+eager+to+prosecute+tresspassers%2e%0d%0a

And+the+horses+get+spooked+when+they+bump+their+heads+on+the+cave+ceiling%2e%0d%0a

We+just+returned+from+a+weekend+there%2e++The+Boy+Scouts+loved+it%2e++As+well+as+the+adults%2e++It%27s+about+a+4+hour+drive+for+us+but+they+say+it+doesn%27t+matter+how+late+you+get+there+and+on+Friday+night+the+scouts+can+stay+up+caving+until+midnight+or+so+%28Saturday+night+you+have+to+be+in+bed+by+10pm+so+the+drivers+can+get+some+sleep+for+the+trip+home%29%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThey+claim+that+the+cave+is+a+constant+52F%2c+which+may+be+true+for+the+cave+section%2e++Last+year+in+late+November+we+went+with+Cub+Scouts%2fWebelos%2e++The+cave+was+packed+and+we+were+up+front+near+the+entrance+where+it+was+kind+of+warm+but+damp+%28it%27s+a+cave+after+all%29%2e++This+year+it+was+mid%2dFebruary%2c+the+cave+wasn%27t+as+full+%28which+was+nicer+for+exploring%29+but+this+time+we+were+in+the+River+Bed+Room%2e++It+was+dryer+there+but+the+temperature+was+33F+when+we+woke+up+Saturday+morning%2e++It%27s+a+lower+section+and+you+can+feel+the+temp+drop+as+you+go+down+to+it%2e++That%27s+because+cold+air+comes+in+near+the+end+of+that+section%2e++The+back+section+of+the+upper+cave+is+warmer+but+also+damper%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+food+service+there+is+basic+but+good%2e++Pancakes+and+sausage+for+breakfast%2c+Sloppy+Joes+for+lunch+and+fried+chicken+for+dinner%2e++Since+they+have+a+lot+of+people+to+feed%2c+you+have+scheduled+times+to+eat%2e++Food+%28pizza%2c+nachos%29+is+available+for+purchase+when+the+kitchen+isn%27t+servering+meals%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aWhen+the+Scouts+needed+a+break+from+caving%2c+they+usually+hung+out+in+the+game+room%2e++There+are+trails+but+it+was+pretty+cold+out%2e++Saturday+night+was+a+bingo+game+and+a+lot+of+the+scouts+enjoyed+that+too%2e++We+also+bring+several+card+games+and+usually+play+a+few+rounds+at+the+cafeteria+Saturday+afternoon%2e++That%27s+usually+a+time+when+a+lot+us+need+a+break+from+caving%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aOverall+it%27s+a+fun+time+that+I+would+recommend+to+anyone%2e++Our+scouts+already+decided+they+want+to+come+back+to+the+cave+at+the+same+time+next+year%2e%0d%0a%0d%0a

We+are+looking+forward+to+going+back+to+Eagle+Cave%2e++Our+scouts+ranged+from+Tiger+Cubs+to+Senior+Boy+Scouts%2c+along+with+moms%2c+dads%2c+sisters+and+brothers%2e++We+believe+it+is+a+great+experience+at+a+great+price+%2d+only+%2445%2fpp+for+weekend+camping+and+meals%2e++Be+sure+to+bring+extra+dry+clothes%2c+glove%2c+and+extra+flashlights+%28the+ones+like+a+miner%27s+light+that+fits+on+the+head+is+the+best%21%29%0d%0a%0d%0aThere+is+%22quiet%2dtime%22+at+10pm+so+you+can+get+some+rest%2c+but+be+aware+the+overhead+lights+stay+on+24%2f7%2e++%0d%0a%0d%0aWhere+else+can+you+go+camping+in+the+dead+of+winter%2c+be+%22relatively%22+comfortable+%28it+was+about+%2d20+degrees+outside%29+and+EVERYONE+has+a+good+time%3f%0d%0a%0d%0aAnd+as+a+female%2c+I+want+to+comment+on+the+bath+house+facility%2e++The+showers+were+HOT+and+the+building+was+clean+%28by+camping+standards%29+and+the+best+part+was%3a+the+%22line%22+was+for+the+mens%27+room%21%0d%0a%0d%0a
