++++++++Avondale+Scout+Reservation+is+one+of+the+oldest+and+largest+scout+camps+in+LA%2e+A%2eS%2eR%2e+has+1682+acres+and+67+designated+campsites+in+five+different+camping+areas%2e%0d%0a++++++++Camp+Avondale+is+a+600%2b+acre+area+and+offers+a+summer+camp%2cwinter+camp%2c+and+year+round+camping%2e+CA+has+16+campsites+w%2f+available+electricity%2cwater%2cand+soon+to+have+individual+campsite+flush+toilet+and+shower+facilities%2e+CA+also+has+a+35%2b+acre+well+stocked+lake%2c300+capacity+dining+hall%2ctrading+post%2cadmin+building%2cswim+dock%2cboat+dock%2ccouncil+ring%2carchery+range%2crifle+range%2cshotgun+range%2c4+20ftx20ft+instructional+pavillions%2chandicap+campsite+w%2fa+capacity+of+9+hc+and+33+non%2dhc+persons%2chealth+lodge%2chealth%26safety+instructional+pavillion%2cand+a+COPE+course%2e%0d%0a++++++++Camp+Hunter+is+a+primitive+camping+area+with+2+campsites+w%2fwater+and+a+15x30+pavillion%2e%0d%0a++++++++The+Woodbadge+Hill+area+is+a+primitive+camping+area+with+10+campsites%2ca+15x30+pavillion%2cand+one+water+location%2e%0d%0a++++++++The+Tigator+camping+area+has+9+campsites+w%2fwater+in+7%2c200+capacity+showerhouse+w%2fflush+toilets%2c30+capacity+bunkhouse+w%2ftoilet%2celectricity%2ckitchenette%2cand+a%2fc%2e+Tigator+also+has+a+45%2b+acre+lake+great+for+fishing+or+canoeing%2crifle+range%2cshotgun+range%2carchery+range%2cand+a+45+person+meeting+building+w%2fcentral+heat%26air%2cfull+kitchen%2cfireplace%2cand+two+flush+toilets%2e%0d%0a++++++++The+Magee+camping+area+is+500%2b+acres+and+has+30+campsites+w%2fmultiple+water+locations%2c15x20+pavillion+w%2favailable+electricity%2cand+a+30%2b+acre+lake+also+great+for+fishing+in+a+picturesque+setting%2e%0d%0a++++++++If+you+enjoy+camping+in+beautiful+country%2cAvondale+Scout+Reservation+is+the+place+to+camp%2e++++++++%0d%0a%0d%0a

We+went+to+our+local+district+camp%2c+Camp+Avondale+in+Clinton%2c+LA%2c+last+year%2c+but+we+plan+on+going+there+about+once+every+3+years+for+variety%2e+We+thought+Avondale+met+expectations+but+did+not+knock+our+socks+off%3b+their+program+on+Merit+Badges+and+their+First+Year+program+was+solid+and+met+expectations+%28i%2ee%2e%2c+a+%22B%22+vice+an+%22A%22+grade%29%2e+The+biggest+plus+was+the+new+showers+at+all+the+campsites%2e+The+biggest+drawback+was+that+the+Friday+program+was+not+well+organized+and+did+not+have+enough+activities+for+the+boys%2c+and+paperwork+on+Merit+Badges+had+some+errors+%28Grade+C%2c+not+Grade+F%29%0d%0aIf+you+are+within+about+a+five+hour+drive+of+Clinton+%28one+hour+north+of+Baton+Rouge%29%2c+Avondale+is+a+reasonable+option%2e%0d%0a

We+went+to+Avondale+last+year%2c+and+while+it+was+close%2c+it+was+not+nearly+as+good+as+camps+we+have+been+to+out+of+council%2e++Facilities+are+old%2c+and+while+they+are+fixing+a+few+things%2c+the+dinning+hall+has+to+be+1950+era+and+can+only+feed+about+200%2e++Staff+was+barely+adequate%2c+probably+because+they+only+have+3+weeks+of+camp+and+cannot+afford+to+hire+older%2c+college+age+counselors%2e++We+are+looking+forward+to+going+to+a+newer%2c+better+maintained%2c+and+better+staffed+camp+this+year%2e+%0d%0a
