The United States Naval Shipbuilding Museum operates their Overnight Adventure aboard the USS Salem, a retired Navy Heavy Cruiser. The 716 foot ship is moored at its birthplace, the former Fore River Shipyard in Quincy, MA. The ship accomodates 250 campers who participate in hands on training and drills. A cruise of Historic Boston Harbor is included in the program. The ship operates year round with weekend programs during the school year and 2, 5 and 7 day programs during the summer months. Programs are age appropriate and are designed for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers.
