Goshen is the local Boy Scout council's (National Capital Area Council) long-term resident summer camp located on 4,000+ acres in the mountains of southwestern Virginia. There are six separate Scout Camps on the shores of a 450-acre lake. The Boy Scouts use three of the camps for troop camping, the Webelos use two of the camps for their activities, and the High Adventure crews, hiking in the back country, depart from the sixth camp.

Troop+500+of+Capitol+Hill+%28National+Capitol+Area+Council%29+took+a+crew+of+6+13+year+olds+to+L%2eH%2e+the+summer+of+2000+and+found+the+experience+to+be+fantastic%2e+The+hiking+is+not+too+demanding+so+it+makes+a+wonderful+introductory+or+intermediate+hiking+experience%2e+The+cultural+and+sports+venues+at+the+outpost+were+well+staffed+as+was+the+beginning+orientation%2e+%0d%0a

Goshen+has+done+allot+to+improve+its+facilities+and+program%2e++All+was+very+good+and+the+Scouts+had+a+great+time%2c+and+earned+many+merit+badges%2e%0d%0aHowever%2c+while+the+food+was+good%2c+they+went+to+great+lengths+to+limit+the+amount+of+food+that+we+all+got%2e++The+boys+and+leaders+left+each+meal+hungry%2e++Servel+tims+they+run+out+of+food%2c+or+if+they+had+some+left%2c+they+would+not+allow+for+seconds+and+would+close+the+line%2e++They+often+run+out+of+milk+each+morning+%28no+milk+for+the+other+two+meals%29%2c+they+even+ran+out+of+spoons+several+times%2e++One+day%2c+they+had+chicken+hotdogs+%28that+is+right%2c+chicken+hotdogs%29+and+they+would+only+give+us+on+hot+dog+and+an+old+bun+and+chips%2e%0d%0aIt+is+almost+like+they+are+trying+to+make+a+profit+on+the+food%2e++I+hope+that+they+change+their+policy+on+the+food%2e++A+Scout+should+never+go+hungry%2c+and+to+run+out+of+food+is+inexcusable%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aJim%0d%0a

Our+Troop+visited+Goshen+Camp+Reservation+for+the+past+3+year%2e+We+visited+Camp+Bowmen%2c+Olmsted%2c+and+Marriott%2e+They+all+are+great+camp%2e++My+only+thorn+is+the+camps+need+to+do+a+better+job+on+the+first+week+of+camp%2e++Our+Troop+experience+during+the+first+week+of+camp+this+year+was+bad%2e+The+food+was+not+delivered+on%2dtime%2c+our+campsite+had+very+tall+grass+with+ground+bees+and+the+staff+did+the+best+to+make+everyone+happy%2e++Going+to+this+camp+during+week+3+or+4+was+our+best+experiences%2e%0d%0a

There+is+an+Environmental+Group+that+has+opposed+the+council%27s+pollution+and+the+condition+of+then+dam+at+this+camp%3a%0d%0a%0d%0ahttp%3a%2f%2fwww%2esavegoshenpass%2eorg%2f%0d%0a
