This+past+June+was+my+first+full+week+at+Kia+Kima%2e++I+took+a+rather+large+group%2c+38+to+Cherokee+%28where+we+cook+all+our+meals%29%2e++It+was+an+absolutely+fabulous+week%2e++The+staff+was+enthusiastic%2e++The+merit+badges+were+well+taught+and+requirements+were+met+before+being+signed+off%2e+The+trailblazer+program+was+a+bit+crowded%2c+but+with+SM+help+we+got+through+it%2e++The+camp+fire+program+was+so%2dso%2e++Of+my+20%2b+weeks+at+summer+camp%2c+this+ranks+in+the+top+two+or+three%2e+%28The+Water+Carnival%27s+soggy+peanut+butter+sandwich+was+hard+to+swallow%2e%29%0d%0a

I+just+got+back+from+a+week+at+Kia+Kima%2e++I+participated+in+a+program+called+Ozark+Ultimate+Trek+%28OUT%2c+for+short%29%2e++It+was+amazing%21++About+18+older+%28we+were+all+Life%29+scouts+and+myself+spent+the+week+up%2c+or+rather+OUT%2c+at+Old+Kia+Kima%2c+Kia+Kima+Scout+Reserv%2e%27s+mother+Camp%2e++Then%2c+we+would+spend+one+day+doing+each+of+the+following%3a+mountain+biking%2c+ski%2dboat+innertubing%2c+10+mile+canoe+trip%2c+50%2dfoot+cliff+rock+climbing%2c+and+Spring+River+kayaking+trip+%28with+some+REALLY+sweet+kayaks%21%29++It+was+a+total+blast%21+but+not+for+the+un%2dextreme+or+un%2dphysically+fit+scout%2e%0d%0a

We+went+to+summer+camp+at+Kia+Kima+in+2000%2e++Out+of+the+24+boys+we+took%2c+8+became+Eagle+Scouts%2e++One+of+those+was+my+son%2e++I+always+wanted+to+go+back+and+take+his+younger+brother%2e++This+year+we+did+taking+3+younger+brothers+of+the+8+Eagle+Scouts%2e++We+were+worried+at+first+that+it+would+not+be+as+good%2e++Guess+what%3f++We+had+a+fantastic+time%2e++Everything+from+a+jam+packed+program%2c+a+warm+reception+from+fellow+OA+brothers+from+Lodge+558+to+Wednesday+night+service+overlooking+the+lake+to+my+son+having+a+great+time+as+a+COPE+monkey%2e++We+traveled+from+Lebanon%2c+TN+to+Hardy%2c+ARK+and+had+another+great+experience+at+Camp+Kia+Kima%2e++Thank+you+Drew%2c+Daniel%2c+and+the+whole+crew+at+Kia+Kima%2e++You+all+ran+a+great+camp%21%0d%0a

The+best+praise+of+a+camp+is+to+say+we%27re+already+signed+up+for+next+year%21%21%21++Everyone+who+went+%286+scouts+and+4+adults%29+thoroughly+enjoyed+themselves%2e++The+programs%2c+facilities+and+especially+the+enthusiasm+and+professional+staff+made+our+Kia+Kima+experience+a+great+one%21++Our+hats+off+to+Drew+and+his+entire+staff+for+making+Kia+Kima+a+first%2drate+camp%2e%0d%0a

My+son+is+a+Webelos+II+and+had+a+great+time+at+Kia+Kima%2e++He+earned+the+last+activity+badge+he+needs+for+the+SUPER+20+and+looks+forward+to+coming+back+for+Winter+Camp+2008+when+he+crosses+from+cub+scout+to+boy+scout+in+November%2e++His+favorite+optional+activity+was+BLOBBING%21+He+also+said+it+was+very+cool+meeting+scouts+from+other+packs%2e++And%2c+he+also+helped+his+leader+catch+a+wolf+spider+in+a+container+and+got+to+take+it+to+the+nature+center+at+Kia+Kima+so+that+others+could+learn%2e%0d%0a

Attended+Boy+Scout+Summer+Camp+in+June+and+we+had+the+best+summer+camp+ever%2e+++The+staff+was+very+friendly+and+helpful+and+did+a+great+job%2e++The+program+was+excellent+and+was+run+organized+and+professionally%2e++Our+scouts+and+adults+are+still+talking+about+the+great+time+that+they+had+at+camp+this+year+and+with+30+scouts+and+11+adults+that+attended%2c+this+is+alot+of+talking%2e++Thanks+Drew%2c+Reggie+and+the+entire+staff+at+Kia+Kima+for+making+this+a+special+summer+camp%2e%0d%0a

We+took+33+scouts+to+Kia+Kima+last+week%2e+We+had+a+great+time%2e+The+camp+is+beautiful%2c+has+great+facilities+and+a+very+competent+staff%2e+We+went+there+because+it+has+many+programs+for+older+scouts%2e+All+scouts+said+it+was+the+best+camp+so+far%2e+It+will+be+put+on+top+of+our+camp+list+for+future+visits%2e%0d%0a

WOW%21++We+took+26+scouts+to+Kia+Kima+for+the+July+6th+%2d+July+12th+session%2e++The+humidity+was+tough+on+us%2c+but+we+can%27t+change+the+weather%2e++The+program+and+the+twilight+activities+were+fantastic%2e++There+is+something+for+every+age+scout%2e++Staff+and+Administration+were+great+and+willing+to+accommodate+changes+to+evening+activities+based+on+overall+leader+input%2e++The+climbing+tower+is+first+rate%2e++Rumor+has+it+Kia+Kima+will+be+adding+a+couple+of+weeks+to+the+season+for+2009%2e%0d%0a

Our+troop+made+the+700+mile+trip+from+SE+Kentucky+to+Kia+Kima+and+had+the+best+summer+camp+experience%2e++Our+troop+has+been+to+other+camps+in+KY+and+TN+and+Kia+Kima+has+got+them+beat+hands+down%2e++Excellent+programs+%28especially+the+OUT+high+adventure+program+and+aquatics+program%29%2c+staff+%28experienced%2c+responsive%2c+helpful%29%2c+administration%2c+check+in%2fout%2c+food+services+%28actually+good+dining+hall+food%29+made+us+decide+to+return+next+year+and+experience+Camp+Cherokee%2e++Kia+Kima+is+by+far+the+best+summer+camp+our+troop+has+attended%21++Thanks+to+the+Kia+Kima+Staff+%96+They+make+the+program%21%0d%0a+%0d%0aTroop+502%0d%0aHarlan%2c+KY%0d%0a%0d%0a

We+attended+camp+Kia+Kima+in+July+2009+and+had+a+great+experience%2e++The+camp+staff+was+the+best+that+I+have+seen+in+my+four+years+attending+Boy+Scout+camp%2e++Except+for+the+chiggers%2c+we+had+no+complaints%2e++We+plan+to+attend+camp+at+Kia+Kima+in+the+future%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aTroop+219%0d%0aBenton%2c+Kansas%0d%0a

MY+son+was+a+participator+in+the+lost+program+he+had+the+time+of+his+life+Kayaking+and+camping+along+with+snorkeling+and+swimming%2e+well+run+program+very+knowledgeable+staff%21+in+camp+our+boys+also+had+a+lot+of+fun+staff+also+very+knoledgeable+and+do+there+best+to+help+with+all+they+can%0d%0a+Troop+322%0d%0aBaton+Rouge%2c+Louisiana%0d%0a

Took+our+troop+to+KK+this+past+summer+and+had+an+awesome+time%2e++The+staff+was+one+of+the+best+I%27ve+seen+in+14+years+as+an+adult+leader+%2d+they+really+bent+over+backwards+to+help+out+and+although+some+may+see+this+as+a+negative+%2d+they+didn%27t+hesitate+to+tell+us+when+a+boy+didn%27t+have+what+it+took+to+earn+Lifesaving+MB%2c+I%27d+rather+have+that+than+just+pencil+whip+the+blue+cards%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+food+was+ok%2c+as+expected+when+there+were+400%2b+in+camp+although+2nds+at+each+meal+would+have+been+nice%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+trading+past+was+the+only+downside+%2d+like+most+scout+camps%2c+lots+of+slushie%27s%2c+sodas+and+candy+bars+but+no+mb+books+and+other+essentials%2e++%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+scenery+was+great+and+the+campsites+were+more+than+adequate+to+fit+our+troop%2e++The+indoor+bathrooms+and+showers+were+nice+at+the+end+of+the+day%2e%0d%0a

We+returned+yesterday+from+our+2nd+time+to+KKSR%2e++It+was+one+of+the+best+experiences+in+15+years+of+going+to+summer+camps%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+food+quality+was+really+goood+%28even+the+boys+said+so%29%2c+the+quantity+lacked+a+little+on+some+meals+but+they+had+PBJ+and+salad+available+to+fill+in+the+empty+spots%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+staff+is+first+rate%3b+very+polite+and+knowledgeable+in+their+program+areas%2e++The+admin+staff+was+great+to+work+with+from+early+registration+to+the+check%2dout%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThis+camp+is+definitely+on+the+boy%27s+list+to+come+back+to%2e%0d%0a

I+would+like+to+add+a+few+short+comments+from+an+old+Eagle+Scout+with+a+Bronze+Palm+about+Kia+Kima%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aWhen+I+was+growing+up+and+active+in+The+Boy+Scouts+Of+America+in+Memphis%2c+Tennessee%2c+I+couldn%92t+wait+for+Summer+to+arrive+and+for+our+Troop%92s+annual+2+week+adventure+at+Kia+Kima%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0aWe+always+learned+so+much%2c+earned+merit+badges%2c+experienced+life+in+a+beautiful+and+wonderful+natural+setting%2c+met+and+befriended+boys+from+other+areas%2c+and+benefited+from+the+dedicated+councilors+and+staff%2c+both+of+which+were+excellent+role+models+who+inspired+us+to+be+grow+up+to+be+our+best%2c+and+for+many+of+us%2c+to+aspire+to+be+councilors+and+leaders+following+in+their+foot+steps%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aAmong+my+treasured+memories+are+that+I+entered+The+Order+Of+The+Arrow+there%2c+did+the+mile+swim+in+the+lake%2c+gathered+together+at+the+bonfire+at+the+end+of+camp+with+the+boys+from+all+of+the+other+troops+with+a+sense+of+unity+and+purpose%2e+I+learned+to+identify+trees+and+wildlife%2c+to+lash+and+tie+useful+knots%2c+to+identify+stars+and+constellations+while+observing+the+most+glorious+night+skies+and+spectacular+meteor+showers+ever%2c+and+to+save+lives%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aMy+Dad+was+our+Scout+Master%2c+and+our+two+weeks+at+Kia+Kima+were+some+of+the+most+wonderful+memories+I+have+of+him%2e+He+took+my+then+3+year+old+son+with+him+to+Kia+Kima+for+his+first+camping+experience%2e+Now+how+awesome+is+that%3f%21+Boys+and+fathers+have+a+great+opportunity+to+bond+at+Kia+Kima%2e+What+more+can+one+say%3f%0d%0a%0d%0aI+would+not+trade+my+experience+in+Scouting+and+any+of+my+experiences+at+Kia+Kima+for+anything%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aFrom+the+other+comments+I%92ve+read%2c+Kia+Kima+is+still+the+fabulous+experience+for+boys+in+Scouting+that+it+was+for+me%2c+and+that+is+greatly+encouraging+and+gives+hope+to+an+old+Eagle+Scout+with+a+Bronze+Palm%2c+that+the+facility+and+staff+are+dedicated+to+building+boys+in+mind%2c+body%2c+and+spirit+to+become+good+citizens+of+our+country%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0aThanks+and+God+bless+you+Kia+Kima+and+Staff%2e%0d%0a%0d%0a

My+son+and+I+have+been+going+to+Kia+Kima+for+the+last+three+years+for+resident+camp%2e+It+is+the+highlight+of+the+summer%2eThe+staff+at+kia+kima+is+exceptional%2e+The+addition+of+the+new+700+person+dining+hall+with+Air+conditioning+and+Wifi+is+a+huge+selling+point%2e+We+are+the+only+scouts+from+our+pack+that+go+to+scout+camp%2c+but+they+always+make+us+feel+like+part+of+the+group%2e+People+that+have+not+been+to+Kia+kima+complain+about+the+heat+and+ticks+but+we+have%27nt+had+issues+with+either+provided+we+take+precautions%2e+Each+camp+has+a+theme+that+the+boys+really+get+into%2e+The+staff+will+also+put+on+costumes+and+sing+songs%2e+its+quite+a+production%2e+Each+day+at+meals+they+sing+songs+as+they+serve+meals%2eThose+songs+get+stuck+in+your+head+and+we+hum+them+walking+around+the+house+for+weeks%2e+Kia+Kima+holds+a+special+place+in+our+heart%2e+You+should+check+it+out+for+your+self%2e%0d%0a

My+son+%26+I+went+to+KK+in+2017+so+he+could+earn+his+Whitewater+Merit+Badge%2e+It+is+one+of+the+few+camps+that+offer+WW+and+he+really+enjoyed+it%2c+especially+on+the+last+day+when+they+went+down+a+faster+river+than+the+one+that+flows+through+camp%2e+I+was+a+little+disappointed+in+the+other+MB+he+took%2c+which+was+Small%2dBoat+Sailing%2e+They+only+had+2+boats+%26+only+1+was+operational%2e+They+spent+so+much+time+on+the+first+couple+of+days%2c+they+never+got+into+the+water%2e+Thus%2c+he+ended+up+only+get+a+few+minutes+of+sailing+time+on+the+other+days%2e+They+awarded+him+the+MB%2c+but+I+wonder+if+he+really+earned+it%2e+As+for+me%2c+I+contacted+to+the+camp+director+to+help+out+in+their+Eagle%27s+Nest+with+CITN%2c+CITW%2c+or+Scouting+Heritage+as+I+am+a+MBC+for+all+3+MBs%2e+These+were+done+indoor+in+the+old+dining+hall+with+2+classes+going+on+at+the+same+time+with+just+a+divider+separating+the+2+classes%2e+Not+real+conducive+to+learning%2e+The+teen+staffer+in+charge+of+Scouting+Heritage+was+given+the+MB+book+that+morning+and+told+he+was+doing+it%2e+Instead+of+seconding+the+CITN%2fCITW%2c+I+became+the+primary+lead+for+Scouting+Heritage%2e+I+try+to+have+the+staffer+do+as+much+as+he+could+but+since+he+was+not+really+prepared%2c+most+of+the+work+fell+on+me%2e+Luckily%2c+I+had+brought+all+my+supplies+with+me%2e+When+we+played+the+old+fashioned+Scouting+games%2c+the+staffer+did+a+great+job+with+them%2e+I+enjoyed+our+time+at+KK+with+an+indoor+climbing+wall+in+the+dining+hall%2c+cafeteria+style+dining+with+seconds+for+those+eating+late+%28campsites+switch+nightly+from+early+to+late+or+vice+versa%29%2c+the+talent+show+%28with+an+awesome+staffer+with+the+yo%2dyo%29%2c+and+enthusiastic+program+director%2e+There+seem+to+be+some+healthy+competition+from+the+two+sub%2dcamps+where+one+ate+cafeteria+style+%26+the+other+cooked+their+own+food%2e+This+was+most+evident+at+the+campfires+in+the+evening%2e+Nice+camp+%26+would+recommend+it+for+traveling+troops%2e%0d%0a

We+went+to+Kia+Kima+this+past+summer%2c+it+was+our+Troops+first+summer+camp+ever+and+it+was+a+great+first+place+to+go%2e++Our+boys+absolutely+loved+Kia+Kima%2e++For+most+of+our+boys+it+was+the+first+time+they+went+away+that+long+without+parents%2c+we+had+a+few+boys+get+homesick+at+night%2e++But+during+the+day%2c+the+staff+had+them+busy+the+whole+day+and+everyone+loved+it+there%2e++The+dining+facility+is+first+rate%2c+we+all+loved+the+Salad+bar+everyday+and+the+food+was+what+you+would+expect+from+a+camp%2e++We+drove+up+550+miles+from+the+Houston+Area%2c+and+we+will+be+back+again%2e%0d%0a
