Lost Valley Scout Reservation is an Orange County Council Camp. There are two camps, Camp Grace and Camp Irvin, on the reservation. The two share some facilities such as the lake, and horses. Orange County Council is in Costa Mesa, CA

Best+Scout+Camp+I%27ve+seen+yet%2e++Excellent+facilities+and+great+staff%2e++A+little+remote%2c+but+well+worth+the+11+mile+dirt+road+to+get+there%2e%0d%0a

Camp+Grace%2c+developed+in+the+1960s%2c+has+a+pool+%28showers+for+both+men+and+women%29%2c+dining+hall%2c+trading+post%2c+handicraft+lodge%2c+and+13+campsites%2e+Each+campsite+has+a+latrine%2c+fire+pit%2c+water%2c+picnic+table%2c+and+is+equipped+with+tents+during+the+summer+for+camping%2e+Grace+has+nine+heated+log+cabins+built+in+1995+for+non%2dsummer+weekend+rental%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0a

Our+Arizona+Troop+visited+Lost+Vally+and+I+have+to+say+that+their+staff+was+the+best+staff+I%27ve+ever+seen%2e+They+truely+enjoy+each+other%27s+company%2e+The+merit+badge+classes+could+be+improved+a+little+bit%2e+But+over+all+the+experience+was+very+rewarding%2e%0d%0a

This+camp+has+slipped+from+6+years+ago%2c+when+it+was+excellent%2e++The+facilities+are+still+very+good%2c+but+some+of+the+staff+was+less+involved+with+the+boys%2e++The+food+was+OK%2c+but+the+dining+hall+was+chaotic+and+messy%2e++A+little+discipline+for+staff+and+campers+would+go+a+long+way%2e++The+loss+of+the+Archeology+MB+was+a+disappointment%2e%0d%0a

Archeology+is+back%21+Starting+the+%2707+year+the+Indian+Village+will+be+re%2dopened%2e+There%27s+also+a+new+Lost+Valley+Radio+Station%2c+and+other+new+programs+going+on%2e+%0d%0aSchope+Scout+Reservation+at+Lost+Valley+includes+Camp+Irvine%2c+as+well%3a%0d%0aCamp+Irvine%2c+developed+in+the+1970%27s%2c+also+has+a+dining+hall+%28feeding+cafeteria+style%29%2c+trading+post%2c+pool+and+showers%2e++There+are+15+campsites+for+tent+camping%2e++Irvine+has+nine+heated+log+cabins+built+in+1995+for+non%2dsummer+weekend+rental%2e++Facilities+and+programs+are+available+depending+upon+staffing%2c+weather+conditions%2c+and+time+of+year%2e%0d%0a

Just+returned+from+a+week+in+Camp+Grace%2e+Lost+Valley%2e++Program+and+staff+were+great%21+The+new+food+service+operations+have+brought+marked+improvement+in+the+quality+of+meals%2c+and+the+quantity+for+seconds+for+those+not+filled+with+the+first+large+serving%2e%0d%0a

This+camp+desperatly+needs+help%2e++My+son+just+attended+and+I+am+thankful+he+made+it+home+unharmed%2e++The+place+is+overrun+with+snakes%2c+ants+and+rodents%2e++The+staff+seems+to+be+unsupervised+and+thus+sits+around+being+unhelpful%2e++The+decision+making+by+the+staff+is+so+bad+and+lax%2c+many+times+they+put+the+boys+in+unsafe+situations%2e++The+food+is+so+bad+that+one+day+for+breakfast+they+served+sour+milk%21%21++When+you+opened+the+carton+it+came+out+in+lumps+and+curdles%2e++Whoever+is+in+charge+up+there%2c+if+there+is+anyone%2c+needs+to+address+these+problems+before+some+gets+hurt+or+sick%2e++This+camp+is+not+worth+the+ridiculous+road+to+get+there%2e+August+2008%0d%0a

Attended+July+2010%2e%0d%0aLost+Valley+is+much+improved%2e+A+new+camp+director%28s%29+are+doing+well+at+turning+the+place+around%2e+The+road+is+much+better+now+that+it%27s+been+graded+very+often%2e+The+food+quality+and+quantity+is+very+good%2e+Programs+run+on+schedule+with+few+surprises%2e%0d%0aCons%3a+some+tents+are+shredded%2c+bring+your+own+extras+for+backup%2e+DUST%2c+Mice%2c+ants+and+snakes+are+abundant%2e+Bring+traps%2c+ant+spray+and+watch+for+the+rattlers%2e+A+dust+mask+might+be+good+for+the+sensitive%2e+Not+TOO+many+flying+insects+but+bring+the+repellent+as+usual%2e%0d%0aVery+good+overall+and+the+kids+love+riding+their+bikes+all+over+camp%2e%0d%0a14+boys+earned+50+merit+badges+but+some+sessions+could+have+better+instructors+%2d+40+kids+in+1st+Aid+Merit+Badge+with+ONE+young+kid+at+the+front+reciting+the+book%2e%2e%2e%2e%2e%2e%2e%2e%2e%3f%0d%0a

Attended+Summer+2010%21++%0d%0aThe+dining+hall+was+very+nice%2c+but+I+disagree+with+the+review+above%2c+the+food+was+sub+par+and+the+kitchen+staff+seemed+disinterested+and+clearly+did+NOT+like+their+jobs%2e++The+pool+area+and+its+staff+ensured+good+fun%2c+but+many+personal+items+were+stolen+because+scouts+were+asked+to+leave+backpacks+and+other+items+in+unsupervised%2c+unsecured+areas%2e++Most+counselors+were+excellent%2c+but+a+few+were+led+by+individuals+with+little+to+no+knowledge+of+the+material%2e++The+nature+center+staff+was+hands%2ddown+the+best%21++The+handicrafts+staff+could+use+some+personality+and+enthusiasm%2e++Camp+leaders+seemed+to+be+responsive+and+involved%21++The+camp+is+large+and+you+will+definitely+get+a+workout+riding+your+bike%21++Tents+were+okay%2c+but+the+field+mice+definitely+owned+the+place%2e++Overall+a+pretty+good+experience+with+a+moderate+number+of+merit+badge+opportunities+%2830%29%2e+++%0d%0a

I+was+the+handicrafts+director+for+2010%2e+I+thought+the+handicrafts+staff+did+a+good+job+as+well+as+all+the+other+staff%0d%0a

Our+Boy+Scout+troop+is+at+this+camp+right+now%2e+%28July+10%2d14%2c+2017%2e%29++They+are+being+overrun+with+mice+in+their+tents+at+night%2e++They+can+feel+them+running+over+them+while+they+are+sleeping%21++The+Dads+and+leaders+especially+are+so+tired+from+not+getting+a+good+nights+sleep%2e++When+they+hear+the+mice%2c+they+turn+on+their+flashlights+and+see+the+mice+scatter%21++There+is+no+food+in+their+tents+but+obviously+the+mice+are+multiplying+and+this+is+their+nightly+routine%21++How+disgusting+and+a+major+health+concern%21++Not+only+with+the+mice+themselves+but+the+feces+they+leave+behind+in+the+tents+and+on+the+campers+gear%21++I+want+to+always+support+the+scouts+and+scouting+programs+but+not+at+the+health+risk+of+our+family+and+troop%21%21%21%21%21++Unless+they+are+able+to+get+some+help+keeping+mice+off+of+them+at+night%2c+there+is+no+way+our+troop+would+ever+go+back+and+no+way+we+would+recommend+this+camp+to+any+other+scouts%21%0d%0a
