Fees are 130.00 in council. Horse Program Camp Cherokee and Camp Meisenbach are located on the magnificent 3,300 acre Clement Scout Ranch near Athens, Texas. A total of four major lakes contribute to make this a true outdoorman’s paradise. Soft rolling hills covered with oak, hickory and pine trees provide favorable natural habitat for the various wildlife to be found on the property. Bobcat, fox, opossum, raccoon, skunk, muskrat and rabbit can be found at various points on the property.

The Crown Jewel of Circle Ten Council's 4 camps. The acreage was graciously donated by former Governor Bill Clements. I have camped there for over 15 years and still can't get enough of it. There are actually 2 camps in one, Cherokee and Meisenbach (Commanche).

We+attended+Camp+Cherokee+in+East+Texas%2e++This+is+not+a+small+camp+%282%2c000+or+3%2c000+acres%29%2c+and+I+don%27t+really+know+why+our+hut+was+so+close+to+the+camping+merit+badge+class%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aAlmost+all+of+the+staff+were+younger+than+probably+22+or+23%2e++My+husband+stayed+for+3+days%2c+and+none+of+the+incidents+occurred+while+he+was+there+%28of+course%29%2e++There+were+no+SMs+present+during+the+incidents%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aOne+of+my+sons+%28they%27re+all+first+year+Lone+Scouts%29+asked+if+they+had+some+different+music+or+even+some+Christian+music%2e++The+counselor+said%2c+among+other+things%2c+%22You+listen+to+that+WOW+%23%24%25%2a%2c+don%27t+you%3f%22++%28WOW+stands+for+Winds+of+Worship%29++The+12+yo+said%2c+%22Hey%2c+a+Scout+is+clean%21%22+and+the%0d%0acounselor%27s+answer+infuriates+me%2e++He+told+my+boys+that+when+you+reach+puberty%2c+mature+and+become+a+man%2c+you+can+say+any+word+that+you+want+as+long+as+you+can+back+it+up%2e++All+the+other+boys+in+the+class+told+my+boys+to+grow+up+%2dso+what+about+the+Scout+oath+and+law%3f++That%27s+just+one+instance+of+many%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+counselor+that+was+using+profanity+was+an+eagle+scout+that+had+been+in+the+military+for+a+couple+of+years%2e++That+was+the+thing+that+really%0d%0adisappointed+my+12+year+old%2e++My+boys+have+%22eagles+in+their+eyes%22+and+they+are+making+plans+for+achieving+Eagle%2e++%0d%0a%0d%0aThere+are+other+issues+at+this+camp+that+need+to+be+addressed%2c+too%2e++They+were+signed+off+on+requirements+that+they+didn%27t+do+in+other+mb+classes%2e++They+didn%27t+do+things+that+they+could+have+done+in+camping+if+they+would+have+turned+off+the+music+and+got+down+to+business%2e++The+swimming+instructors+told+my+youngest+son+to+dog+paddle+for+75+yards+and+then+swim+on+his+back+for+25+yards%2e++That%27s+how+he+passed+the+BSA+Swimmer+Test%2e++I%27m+NOT+signing+him+off+for+passing+that+test+until+he+can+swim+%22in+a+confident+manner%22+for+75+yards%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThere+was+a+female+swimming+merit+badge+instructor+that+had+the+whole+camp+in+an+uproar+%28maybe+500+boys%29%2e++One+of+the+scouts+in+the+troop+we+went+with%2c+left+the+swimming+mb+class+one+day+because+he+felt+that+she+was+stepping+over%0d%0athe+line+with+him%2e++He+told+my+son%2c+%22I%27m+not+going+to+put+up+with+that%21%22++These+boys+were+there+for+the+experience+of+Scouting%2c+not+for+gaining+experience+with+girls%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aWe+will+probably+make+a+personal+visit+back+to+camp+to+talk+with+the+camp+director%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aMarcy%0d%0amorganfam7%40AOL%2eCOM%0d%0a

Cherokee+is+a+beautiful+place+to+camp%2e++Our+camp+was+right+on+the+waterfront+with+a+bridge+that+our+boys+lived+on+between+classes%2e++We+took+little+fish+nets+that+the+boys+used+to+catch+and+release+water+life+and+insects%2e++The+dragonflies+around+camp+were+enchanting%2e++The+overall+camp+was+wonderful%2e++We+have+a+special+needs+troop+with+3+diabetics+%28one+boy+is+brittle%29%2e++The+kitchen+staff+was+so+wonderful+to+provide+an+extra+piece+of+fruit+or+juice+when+blood+sugar+levels+where+off%2e++What+a+VERY+generous+group%2d+they+went+out+of+their+way+to+help%2e++We+had+camp+contact+with+an+armadillo%2c+baby+racoon%2c+copperhead%2c+scorpion%2c+spiders%2c+and+even+an+alligator+%28about+3+ft%2e+long%29+on+our+last+day%21%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+flushing+toilets+and+warm+showers+were+wonderful+when+you+get+past+the+feeling+of+not+having+closing+doors+on+the+bathroom+%28there+are+doors+on+the+shower+stalls+and+the+toilets%29%2e++What+an+improvement+over+camp+when+I+was+young%21++I+loved+the+look+in+the+boys+faces+when+they+were+told+they+had+to+clean+the+latrine%2e++It+became+fun+when+they+found+out+there+were+frogs+in+the+showers%2e%0d%0aNothing+is+perfect%2d+we+did+have+problems+with+the+camp+director%2e++We+took+5+adults+knowing+that+we+would+ALL+be+needed+for+our+special+group+of+boys%2e++We+arrived+early+Sunday+knowing+that+we+would+need+that+time+to+keep+the+boys+on+task+to+set+up+camp+and+keep+them+focused%2e++While+registering+3+of+our+adults+were+pulled+to+be+camp+ambassadors%2e++This+was+our+first+year+at+camp+with+a+troop+that+is+just+one+year+old%2e++These+adults+were+eager+to+help+with+the+task+asked%2c+but+had+no+idea+they+would+be+giving+up+their+entire+week+with+their+own+sons+and+helping+with+the+needs+of+the+troop%2e++Most+of+the+time+we+were+left+with+only+one+leader+trying+to+take+care+of+all+the+special+needs+in+the+camp%2e++When+this+situation+was+brought+to+the+attention+of+Camp+directore+Chris+he+refused+to+allow+the+replacement+of+any+of+the+ambassadors%2e++There+were+other+troops+in+camp+asking+to+have+one+of+their+adults+be+an+ambassador%2e++We+were+told+it+was+because+he+didn%27t+want+to+pay+for+another+cap+and+apron%2e++We+never+should+have+been+left+with+one+leader+for+9+boys%2e++Our+boys+have+needs+from+diabetes+to+neurological+and+behavoior+disabilities%2e%28Stocking+the+camping+RX+box+is+like+stocking+a+hospital+on+most+trips%2e%29++One+deep+leadership+never+should+have+happened+and+our+camp+director+should+have+set+a+better+example+for+the+boys+by+living+the+boy+scout+law%2e++By+Friday+we+had+boy+who+wanted+to+go+home+early+and+nearly+in+fist+fights%2e++Not+what+a+female+leader+12+weeks+out+of+spinal+surgery+needs+to+settle+by+herself%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aCamp+Cherokee+is+a+wonderful+place+to+visit%2c+but+caution+your+adults+that+only+one+or+two+need+to+say+yes+to+an+ambassador%27s+job%2d+ONLY+if+you+can+spare+them%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aKeep+in+mind+that+directors+at+the+camps+change%2e++We+were+told+this+was+our+camp+directors+last+year%2e++We+expect+next+year+to+be+much+better%2e%0d%0a

Camp+Cherokee+has+recently+be+renamed+to+Camp+Trevor+Rees%2dJones%2e+Trevor+Rees%2dJones+donated+%2425+million+to+Circle+10+council%2e+Much+of+that+went+into+brand+new+facilities+at+the+camp%2e+It+is+now+better+then+ever%2e+There+are+now+brand+new+bathroom+and+shower+facilities%2e+There+are+brand+new+pavilions+in+every+camp+site%2e+And+there+are+many+other+major+improvements%2e+%0d%0aThey+also+have+an+amazing+staff%2c+and+their+programs+are+excellent%2e+They+have+one+of%2c+if+the+not+the+only%2c+rodeo+program+approved+for+scouts+to+take+part+in%2e+It+is+a+beautiful+camp+that+every+should+experience%2e+%0d%0a

Camp+TRJ+and+Meisenbach+are+open+year+round+and+are+free+to+use+for+all+in%2dcouncil+units+and+very+inexpensive+for+out%2dof%2dcouncil+units%2e+It+is+my+absolute+favorite+camp+of+all+Scout+camps+that+I+have+visited%2e+Keep+the+Ranger+happy%3b+offer+him+a+cup+of+coffee+when+he+stops+by+on+his+rounds%2e+You%27ll+reap+great+dividends+in+doing+so%21+Scout+on%21%0d%0a
