The+Curtis+S%2e+Read+Scout+Reservation+is+the+summer+resident+camp+run+by+the+Westchester+Putnam+Council%2e+It+is+situated+in+the+middle+of+Adirondak+State+park%2c+and+is+in+a+prime+location+for+the+ultimate+camp+experience%2e+There+are+three+camps+on+the+Reservation%2e+Camp+Wabeeka+is+the+patrol+cooking+camp%2c+where+each+troop+cooks+their+own+food%2c+which+they+pick+up+half+an+hour+before+meal+time%2e+The+second+camp%2c+Camp+Buckskin%2c+is+the+Dining+hall+camp%2c+which+provides+three+meals+a+day%2e+Summit+Base+is+the+third+camp%2e+This+is+the+high+adventure+base%2c+which+leads+treks+into+the+surrounding+park+areas%2c+and+the+high+peaks+region+of+the+Adirondaks%2e+Camp+Wabeeka+and+Buckskin+both+offers+a+diverse+range+of+merit+badges%2c+in+Ecology%2c+Handicrafts%2c+Scoutcraft%2c+field+sports%2c+and+waterfront%2e+Climbing+merit+badge+is+offered+at+Summit+Base%2c+along+with+Project+COPE%2c+Rock+Climbing%2c+and+other+assorted+programs%2e+The+sessions+are+one+week+long%2c+however+there+is+a+provisional+troop+on+reservation%2c+and+troops+can+stay+for+however+many+weeks+they+want%2e+There+is+also+a+one+week+Webelo+Program%2c+and+a+one+week+Cub+Scout+program%2e+The+reservation+has+just+celebrated+it%27s+fifty+year+anniversary+in+1999%2e+It+is+a+great+place%2c+and+I+have+gone+there+for+six+years+now%2c+and+I+highly+recommend+it+to+anyone+who+wants+the+ultimate+camp+experience%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0aIn+scouting%2c+%0d%0aMike+%0d%0a%0d%0a

While+many+Scout+camps+seem+to+be+cutting+back+on+program+and+maintenance%2c+or+just+being+dismantled+altogether+by+cash%2dstrapped+councils+throughout+the+US%2c+especially+the+Northeast%2c+Read+Scout+Reservation+seems+to+be+bucking+that+trend+over+the+past+decade%2e++Here+is+a+BSA+camping+facility+that+is+first+rate+in+its+infrastructure+and+program+staff%2e+The+WP+Council+continues+to+commit+significant+resources+to+this+camp%2e++In+fact%2c+the+summer+program+has+gotten+so+popular+in+the+past+5+years%2c+a+few+new+campsites+have+been+constructed+and+added+to+each+of+the+sub+camps%2e++At+Read%2c+you+will+enjoy+access+to+a+high+and+low+ropes+COPE+courses+constructed+in+1995%2c+a+full+equestrian+program+resurrected+in+1992%2c+a+handicraft+lodge+built+in+1991+or+a+good+meal+in+a+bright+and+airy+dining+hall+that+is+less+than+20+years+old+to+name+a+few%2e++From+Read%2c+you+can+go+caving%2c+run+the+rapids+in+an+inflatable+raft%2c+hike+to+the+top+of+one+of+the+highest+peaks+in+the+Adirondacks%2c+or+just+take+in+views+of+Lake+Waubeeka+%2d+a+Scout+camp+waterfront+setting+that+even+Norman+Rockwell+would+have+been+inspired+by%2e++There+is+something+meaningful+to+do+for+young+campers%2c+as+well+as+the+older+boys%2c+at+Read%2e++Your+troop+will+come+back+for+years%2c+whether+for+a+traditional+summer+camp+program+or+a+high+adventure+outing+on+a+canoe+or+backpacking+trek%2e++Read+is+a+premier+camp+not+to+be+missed%2e%0d%0a%0d%0a%0d%0a

over+the+years+i+have+been+to+many+diffrent+scout+camps+in+many+diffrent+areas%2e+one+of+these+many+includes+Curtis+S%2e+Read+SR%2f+Camp+Buckskin%2e+although+it+was+not+the+very+best+camp+i%27ve+been+to+in+so+many+years+its+seconed+best+in+my+book%2e+friendly+staff+with+a+can%2d+do+attitude%2c+an+awsome+ECON+area%2c+and+some+of+the+most+beautiful+campsites+in+New+York%2e+the+food+was+pretty+damn+good%2c+Thanks+Joe%2e+and+to+the+Buckskin+staff%2d+keep+on+bein+real%2e+and+always+remember+Indian+Lore+MB+was+great%0d%0a
