Troop 111 attended Camp Comer in 1999. The facilities are excellent, and so were the programs. I highly recommend it to any scout.

I+was+the+Assistant+Scoutmaster+to+the+New+Scout+Patrol%2c+so+had+a+lot+of+experience+with+their+%22Pathfinder%22+program%2e+The+instruction+for+new+scouts+was+the+best+boy+led+instruction+I%27ve+seen+%28I+didn%27t+say+perfect+%3a%2d%29%2e+The+Pathfinder%27s+did+their+program+all+morning%2c+and+were+able+to+take+a+MB+class+in+the+afternoon%2e+The+Pathfinder+instructors+did+their+duty%2c+and+taught+them+well%2e+There+was+some+confusion+about+program+planning+%2d%2d+the+new+scouts+were+told+that+they%27d+earned+First+Aid+MB+in+addition+to+all+the+First+Aid+rank+requirements%2c+which+was+not+accurate%2e+The+staff+planned+an+overnighter+insisting+on+no+tents+and+cooking+on+a+large+rock+surface+%2d%2d+which+didn%27t+satisfy+rank+advancement+requirements+%28e%2eg%2e%2c+%22Sleep+in+a+tent+you+have+helped+pitch%22%29+and+with+the+%28predictable%29+rain%2c+created+a+bunch+of+wet%2c+hungry%2c+annoyed+new+tenderfeet%2c+who+they+dragged+back+to+camp%2e+But+I%27ve+certainly+planned+my+share+of+events+that+didn%27t+work+out+like+I%27d+hoped+%3a%2d%29%2e+If+I+had+it+to+do+over%2c+I+would+take+my+new+scouts+on+a+separate+overnighter%2c+meeting+the+requirements+and+avoiding+the+inevitable+problems+associated+with+100%2b+new+scouts+trying+to+camp+together%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0aFor+older+boys%2c+Comer+offers+a+pretty+good+collection+of+MBs%2c+COPE+%28high+%26+low%29%2c+and+an+off%2dcamp+whitewater+trip%2e+And+a+chance+to+do+something+at+Camp+Jackson%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0aIf+you+have+time+for+a+day+side+trip%2c+the+camp+is+very+close+to+Chattanooga+which+has+a+terrific+collection+of+Civil+War+battlefields+and+hikes%2e+Speaking+of+hikes%2c+the+DeSoto+Scout+trail+%2816+miles%2c+medal%2c+see+%28http%3a%2f%2fwww%2esites%2egulf%2enet%2fyustaga%2fHIKE6%2ehtm%29+starts+at+Camp%2e+%0d%0a%0d%0a++%0d%0a%0d%0a%0d%0a
Camp+Comer+is+a+beautiful+camp%2e++If+you+get+the+chance+this+year+join+us+there+for+Summer+Camp%2e++It+is+the+40th+Anniversary+so+it+will+be+a+big+celebration%2e%0d%0a
The+food+was+bad+and+there+was+so+much+of+it%2e++Had+to+put+ketchup+on+your+hamburgers+to+defrost+them%2e++And+it+was+worth+it+%2d%2d+wonderful+weather%2e++Could+be+better+organized+%2d%2d+they+couldn%27t+provide+information+that+the+WhiteWater+Raft+expedition+on+Friday+had+a+12+year+old+age+limit%2e++They+had+lots+of+Merit+Badges%2c+about+the+best+selection+I%27ve+seen%2c+but+could+have+had+more+rigor%2e++I+sat+in+on+a+couple+of+sessions+that+our+boys+attended+and+had+to+prompt+lots+of+discussion+to+fill+the+time+%2d%2d+the+counsellors+have+a+broad+but+not+deep+background%2e++Troop+swim+and+Troop+Boating+were+excellent+activities%2e++We+were+overall+satisfied+and+will+consider+returning+on+our+three+year+camp+rotation%2e++The+WhiteWater+Rafting+on+the+Ocoee+was+a+definite+highlight%2c+even+if+it+would+have+been+nice+to+have+more+info+available+up+front%2e%0d%0a
Troop+310+attended+2007+summer+camp+the+boys+had+a+great+time+%2eThe+food+was+average+camp+food%2e+I+would+recommend+keeping+close+track+of+the+scouts+merit+badge+info+%2cwe+had+boys+who+hadn%27t+even+showed+up+at+camp+get+merit+badges%2e+They+had+a+great+selection+of+merit+badges+%2e+Try+to+get+your+scouts+merit+badge+assignments+prior+to+showing+up+at+camp+%2cyou+will+need+to+do+alot+of+adjusting+%2eWe+are+planning+on+attending+the+winter+blast+at+comer%2c+but+we+know+what+to+expect+this+time%2e%0d%0a
Beautiful+camp%2c+nice+facilities%2c+and+a+good+selection+of+Merit+Badges%2c+BUT+the+food+was+average+and+rationed+%28one+scoop+of+this%2c+one+hush+puppie%2c+everything+was+counted+out%2e%29+They+did+have+a+salad+%26+cereal+bar+which+was+a+plus%2e+The+adult+showers+were+out+of+hot+water+for+three+days+and+nobody+seemed+to+care%2e+The+camp%27s+campfires+were+lame+and+not+very+planned%2e+The+swim+sports+%26+COPE+were+great+but+most+MB+courses+needed+more+more+interest+on+the+instructors+part%2e+It+rained+a+fair+amout+but+the+evenings+were+cool%2e+The+Scouts+had+a+good+time+and+that%27s+what+counts%2e+I+just+wish+the+staff+cared+more+to+make+it+better%2e%0d%0a
