This 207 acre park sits atop a high bluff overlooking the Rock River just north of Oregon, Illinois. The most dramatic feature of the park is the 50 foot statue by Lorado Taft popularly known as the "Blackhawk Statue". This giant cement statue of an idealized native american looks out over the Rock river valley below. The park is adjacent to the Lorado Taft field campus of Northern Illinois University. The park has picnic areas, campsites, boat and ramp. Camping, hiking, canoeing, and fishing are popular.
