Weekend and long term summer camp. Aquatics, handicraft, shooting sports. Older Scout programs include rock climbing, sailing, backpacking and canoe trips, rappelling, rock climbing, etc.

Camp Falling Rock is home to the second Boy Scout summer resident camp operated by the council and is located approximately 14 miles north of Newark, Ohio in Licking County. The camp prides itself on its remote nature, excellent pool, natural rock formations, amphitheater and covered bridge. Lake PeeWee is also available for water sports. Other facilities at the camp are: a large dining hall, maintenance center, ranger's residence, administration lodge, asst. ranger's residence, director's cabin, shower house, 5 program lodges and various other shelters.

Camp falling Rock has well run programs. Like the name implys, plan on a lot of walling either straight down or straight up. The camp sites are on the side of a hill. The scouts voted this the best camp two years in a row. If you are out of shape, you'll probably loss a few pounds at the end of the week

Camp Falling Rock also offers First Class Scout program, horses, Scoutcraft, a historical living program for the older Scouts (known as the Foxfire Trading Company, a nature program, and lots of FUN!

Camp+falling+rock+is+a+well+maintained+camp+and+our+scout+troop+camp%27s+there+three+to+four+times+a+year+including+summer+camp%2c+and+we+would+not+think+of+going+anywhere+else+and+with+the+rock+foundation+everything+is+getting+done+that+needs+to+be%2e++This+is+one+of+my+favorite+camps+in+Ohio+and+I+recommend+everyone+that+can+come+and+camp+here+sometime%2e+%0d%0a

I+don%27t+feel+that+this+camp+is+the+best+in+Ohio+all+thought+it+does+have+good+facilities+I+feel+somewhat+saddened+by+the+unmotivated+and+uninthusiastic+staff%2c+but+hey+who+needs+that+when+you+have+air+conditioning+in+all+of+your+facilities%3f+Scouters+and+scouts+do+you+go+to+camp+for+the+program+or+the+facilities%3f+do+you+wish+to+meerly+meet+meirt%2dbadge+requirements+or+make+friends+while+you+do+it%3f+if+it+is+the+program+that+you+are+looking+for%2c+I+as+a+scouter%2c+do+not+recommend+this+camp+to+you%2e%0d%0a

I+as+a+staff+member+at+the+ROCK+highly+recommend+that+you+and+you+troop+come+and+experince+the+Rock+for+yourselfs%2c+as+for+some+of+the+comments+posted+on+this+site+I+am+sorry+to+hear+some+people+are+not+happy+with+our+camp%2c+we+pride+our+selfs+for+providing+our+scouts+with+a+summer+of+a+life+time%2c+every+scout+that+I+have+ever+known+to+walk+through+the+gates+of+our+camp+has+alway+went+home+happy+with+them+selfs+knowing+that+they+did+something+at+camp+that+they+would+have+never+got+the+chance+to+do+any+were+else%2c+whether+that+is+throwing+a+hawk+to+climbing+a+36+ft%2e+cliff+its+the+fact+that+they+have+never+had+the+chance+to+do+that+anywhere+else+and+our+staff+provided+them+with+that+experince%2e++I+hope+to+see+you+on+the+ROCK+in+2002%21%0d%0a

Our+Troop+attended+Camp+Falling+Rock+for+the+summer+of+2001%2e+We+reserved+tents+for+38%2e+Our+final+four+tents+arrived+after+midnight%2c+Sunday%28or+should+that+be+Monday%29%2e+The+dining+hall+and+Camp+were+overbooked%2e+Prehaps+that%27s+why+the+staff+seemed+worn+out+and+tired%2e+We+had+sereval+scouts+%27earn+%27+one+certain+Merit+Badge+in+fifteen+minutes%2e+My+son+received+his+signed+blue+card+after+turning+it+in%2d+he+didn%27t+even+attend+the+fifteen+minute+session%21+We+had+all+these+scouts+finish+their+badges%2c+again%2c+at+a+local+shop+yet+last+summer%2e+Pizza+for+breakfast+was+a+suprise%2c+I+must+admit%2e+Meals+were+not+up+to+the+par+that+we%27ve+experienced+at+other+Scout+camps+in+the+past%2e+But%2c+again%2c+this+may+be+due+to+the+overbooking%2e+My+son+said+that+the+%27Eagles+Nest%27+program+was+run+well%2e+%0d%0a

Our+troop+of+34+scouts+and+six+adults+experienced+Camp+Falling+Rock+for+the+first+time+last+year+%282001%29%2e++It+is+truly+a+beautiful+location%21++Lots+of+steep+hills+and+a+beautiful+%28if+small%2c+lake%29%2e++Unfortunately+all+those+hills+make+for+a+hard+time+finding+level+ground+to+pitch+your+tent%2e++I+recommend+one+of+the+sites+in+the+Pine+area%2e++Good+shade+and+level+ground%2e++The+program+looked+very+good+on+paper+but+the+administration+of+the+camp+was+weak+as+they+overbooked+the+facilities+to+make+the+almight+buck%2e++This+really+turned+off+our+scouts+who+do+not+want+a+return+visit+any+time+soon%2e++Meal+portions+and+variety+were+less+than+adequate+and+the+merit+badges+were+ridiculously+easy+to+achieve%2e+Staff+were+knowledgeable+but+tired+by+the+fourth+week%2e++The+racoons+were+present+everynight+and+very+bold%2e++The+OA+tapout+ceremony+was+well+done+with+the+scouts+arriving+in+canoes%2e++Another+negative+was+the+fact+that+eight+of+our+scouts+were+waiting+for+tents+to+be+put+up+until+midnight+Sunday%2e++Too+late%21++Staff+were+very+respectful+as+they+listened+to+our+concerns+and+I+believe+they+want+more+support+from+the+administrators+of+the+camp%2e++I+hope+they+read+this%2e++We+won%27t+return+until+we+are+assured+of+corrections+of+the+problems+listed%2e+%28Posted+on+6%2f26%2f02%29%0d%0a

This+was+my+second+year+at+%22The+Rock%22%2e++Most+comments+about+the+food+and+easy+badges+are+true%2e++However%2c+things+are+improving%2e++this+year+at+Handicraft+the+staff+mamber%2fmerit+%0d%0abadge+counselor+%22Farmer%22+is+very+energetic+and+makes+you+do+all+of+the+requirements%2e++I+completed+pottery+after+four+days+not+%22fifteen+minutes%22%2e++It+is+true+that+Falling+Rock+is+not+the+place+to+complete+merit+badges%2e++I+only+suggest+three+eagle+required+badges%3a+Swimming+%28must+do%29%2c+First+Aid%28not+done+well+but+if+intrested+one+can+learn+something%29%2c+and+Lifesaving+%28if+you+can+swim+good+enough%29%2e++Besides+all+of+the+shortcomings%2c+for+Star%2c+Life%2c+and+Eagle+Scouts%0d%0alooking+for+a+good+time%2c+the+high+adventure+and+Foxfire+Trading+Company+definitely+make+the+week+worth+your+time%2e%0d%0a%0d%0a%0d%0a

I+have+been+on+staff+at+Camp+Falling+Rock+for+several+years+as+an+adult%2e+Most+merit+badges+must+be+earned%2c+and+are+not+given%2e++The+overbooking+is+a+constant+problem+and+is+controlled+by+the+council+office+in+Columbus%2c+and+unfortunately+the+camps+must+deal+with+it+as+best+as+they+can+on+a+week+to+week+basis%2e++Somthing+that+would+help%2c+would+be+for+firm+numbers+to+be+sent+in+or+called+in+to+camp+at+least+1+week+prior+to+arrival+so+your+camp+site+can+be+complete%2e+In+order+to+minimize+the+last+minute+camping+difficulties%2c+campsites+have+been+set+up+to+specific+numbers%2c+as+to+how+many+they+can+adequately+house%2e+If+the+leaders+bring+more+than+the+campsite+is+set+up+for+then+this+causes+the+problems%2e++If+you+want+to+put+more+in+a+campsite+than+what+it+is+set+up+for+then+a+unit+is+always+able+to+bring+in+and+set+up+their+own+tents%21+I+want+to+thank+all+the+scouters+that+were+unstanding+and+helped+out+in+program+areas+that+needed+it+d%2ft+the+overbooking%2e++In+an+effort+to+upgrade+the+food+and+provide+good+food+%26+adequate+portions+the+food+service+was+subcontracted+this+past+year%2e++Like+all+new+things+there+were+bugs+to+work+out%2c+good+numbers+for+attendance+would+also+help+with+food+portions%2e%0d%0a%0d%0a

Summer+2006+is+our+troop%27s+sixth+consecutive+summer+to+camp+at+Falling+Rock%2e+We+go+to+CFR+because+the+Scouts+like+to++go+there%2e+The+Scouts+like+the+counselor%27s%2c+the+camp+and+the+%22bold%22+racoons%2e%0d%0aThe+Staff+at+Falling+Rock+have+always+followed+the+Scout+Law+and+do+their+best+to+make+the+summer+camp+experience+worthwhile+for+any+attendees%2e%0d%0aCFR+has+the+Founder%27s+honor+program+that+our+troop+participated+in+for+the+first+time+and+the+%0d%0aScouts+found+it+rewarding%2e+%0d%0aBasically%2c+if+the+Scouts+are+earning+merit+badges%2c+having+great+interaction+with+the+Staff%2c%0d%0aare+having+fun+and+want+to+return%2c%0d%0athen+return+to+Camp+Falling+Rock+we+WILL%21%21%0d%0aSM%2c+T450++%0d%0a

Since+there+has+not+been+a+comment+regarding+CFR+here+since+2006%2c+I+thought+I+would+give+my+two+cents+worth+and+then+some%2e+I+am+the+Scoutmaster+for+T345%2e+Before+I+became+SM+in+2006%2c+I+had+been+an+ASM+in+the+troop+for+4+years%2e+From+the+beginning+of+our+troop+in+1999%2c+to+the+present+%282013%29+the+answer+to+the+question%3a+Where+do+you+want+to+go+to+summer+camp%3f%3b+has+always+been+Camp+Falling+Rock%21+Why%3f+Because+it+is+a+true+BSA+summer+camp%2e+You+camp+for+a+week+in+tents%2c+not+cabins+or+tree+houses%2c+like+a+certain+BSA+camp+in+Ohio%2e+The+staff+truly+cares+about+the+boys+and+they+are+for+the+most+part+top+notch%2e+The+long%2dtime+archery+instructor+moved+to+CO+a+number+of+years+ago%2e+She+has+returned+each+summer+for+the+six+weeks+of+camp+because+she+loves+BSA+and+the+scouts+and%2c+the+scouts+love+her%2e+The+rifle+range+instructor+is+also+a+long%2dtime+staffer+and+is+a+darned+good+one+at+that%2e+One+of+my+sons+earned+Rifle+MB+at+a+weekend+campout+from+a+very+competent+instructor%2e+Never+the+less%2c+I+had+him+go+to+the+CFR+instructor+for+a+review+because+I+respect+the+guy%27s+knowledge+so+much%2e+The+nature+lady+is+another+legend+on+the+Rock+and+has+been+there+for+years%2e+She+knows+more+than+Mother+Nature+herself+and+you+earn+your+MB%27s+that+you+take+from+her%2e+The+aquatics+staff+has+always+had+continuity+from+year+to+year%2c+with+at+least+two+staff+being+there+from+the+previous+years%2e+The+head+guy+is+a+long%2dterm+scouter+who+returned+a+couple+of+summers+ago%2e+The+food+from+2008+to+2012+has+been+great%2e+There+has+been+plenty+of+it%2e+The+Camp+Directors+and+the+Program+Directors+have+always+been+top+notch+from+at+least+2001%2e+Many+of+these+guys+were+scouts+who+attended+CFR+back+in+the+day%2e+Of+all+the+years+we+have+been+going%2c+only+one%2c+2007+was+less+than+desirable%2e+The+food+and+portions+were+bad+that+year%2c+but+the+program+was+fine%2e+The+boys+got+by%2c+the+adults+took+the+appropriate+actions+and+in+2008%2c+there+was+a+vast+improvement+with+the+food%2e+CFR+has+a+great+support+team+from+the+community+and+a+number+of+volunteers+who+work+year+round+to+maintain+a+great+camp%2e+I+would+be+remiss+if+I+didn%27t+mention+Denny%2c+the+ranger%2e+He+is+a+great+guy%2c+will+do+anything+for+you+to+make+your+summer+or+your+monthly+campouts+a+great+experience+for+your+scouts%2e+On+one+condition%2c+that+is+that+you+care+for+your+scouts%2e+He+says%2c+and+I+agree%2c+the+adults+are+there+for+the+boys%2c+not+the+other+way+around%2e+As+for+the+above+comment+regarding+air+conditioning%3b+I+ask%2c+where+were+you+camping%3f+There+are+a+couple+of+window+units+in+the+office%2fmedical+building+but+nowhere+else+that+I+know+of%2e%0d%0aCFR+is+a+fantastic+place+to+camp+year+round%2c+it+is+beautiful+and+cold+in+winter%2e+Beautiful+and+just+about+right+in+spring%2e+Beautiful+and+hot+in+summer%2e+But+most+of+all%2c+beautiful+and+perfect+in+fall%2c+especially+mid+October%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aKurt+Lofton+Scoutmaster+Troop+345%0d%0a
