Muskingum+Valley+built+a+new+pool+in+2001+and+they+are+building+a+new+bath+house+for+2002%2e++They+are+also+building+a+new+climbing%2frepelling+tower+which+promises+to+be+tall+and+offer+some+really+good+climbing+challenges%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aTroop+390+has+been+to+Muskingum+3+years+now+and+we+notice+a+consistancy+in+counselors+and+they+are+interested+in+getting+the+boys+involved+in+their+merit+badge+classes%2e++We+don%27t+worry+about+new+boys+not+finding+or+getting+involved+with+the+badges+they+sign+up+for%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+camp+director+has+been+director+of+this+camp+for+over+25+years+and+provides+consistancy+and+a+family+like+atmospher%2e++The+counselors+are+well+trained+and+know+their+material%2e++There+is+always+at+least+one+international+scout+on+staff+which+helps+expose+the+scouts+to+scouting+programs+around+the+world%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+terrain+is+hilly+so+there+is+some+mild+up+and+down+hiking%2e++The+campsites+are+pretty+level+with+good+grass+ground+cover%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aI+would+rate+this+camp+as+an+excellant+summer+camp+and+fully+recomend+it+to+all+campers%2e%0d%0a

Our+troop+really+enjoyed+staying+at+Muskingum+Valley+Scout+Reservation+%28MVSR%29+for+summer+camp%2e++There+always+seemed+to+be+an+event+or+activity+going+on+somewhere+in+the+camp%2e++We+had+fun%2c+success+with+merit+badges%2c+and+the+Netami+%28First+Year%29+program+is+excellent%2e++It+kept+the+first+year+scouts+involved+with+visits+to+all+areas+of+the+camp%2e++Most+first+year+scouts+will+come+away+from+camp+with+a+large+number+of+Tenderfoot%2c+2nd+Class+and+1st+Class+requirements+ready+for+sign%2doff+and+two+merit+badges%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aMVSR+offers+a+wide+range+of+activities+and+merit+badges+for+returning+scouts+as+well%2e++For+older+scouts+they+offer+Rapelling%2c+Project+C%2eO%2eP%2eE%2c+and+a+Canoe+trip+down+the+Muskingum+River%2e++This+is+one+of+the+few+camps+we+have+been+to+that+has+a+Civics+Area+to+facilitate+earning+required+merit+badges+such+as+Communications+and+the+Citizenships%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+facilities+and+campsites+are+well+maintained%2e++The+camp+itself+is+nestled+in+the+rolling+hills+of+Sothern+Ohio+with+rich+forest+area+and+several+lakes%2e++This+is+one+scout+camp+that+can+boast+a+good+lake+for+fishing%2e++The+pool+and+South+shower+house+are+relatively+new+and+kept+in+good+order%2e++Everyone+commented+on+how+good+the+food+at+the+dining+hall+was+and+second+helpings+were+served+to+those+that+wanted+more%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+staff+was+friendly+and+helpful%2e++If+there+were+any+problems+the+staff+worked+to+solve+them+to+make+the+week+in+camp+more+enjoyable%2e++You+will+find+that+many+staff+members+return+year+after+year%2e++There+is+a+good+chance+an+international+scout+will+be+serving+on+staff%2e++The+camp+director+has+been+involved+with+the+camp+for+over+25+years%2e++His+wife+serves+as+Aquatics+director%2e++They+along+with+the+other+returning+staff+make+this+a+very+smooth+running+summer+camp+program%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aAnother+opportunity+troops+may+want+to+consider+is+spending+a+weekend+at+MVSR+and+visiting+nearby+Historic+Roscoe+Village%2e++This+is+originally+how+our+troop+discovered+MVSR%2e++Roscoe+Village+is+a+living+Historic+area+that+depicts+life+as+it+was+during+the+boon+of+the+Erie+Canal%2e++With+prior+arrangements%2c+Roscoe+Village+staff+will+put+on+a+guided+tour+for+groups+with+several+hands%2don+activities%2e++There+are+discounts+available+for+scout+groups%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aI+would+highly+recommend+spending+time+at+MVSR%2e++It+has+a+lot+to+offer+and+our+troop+will+be+visiting+again+soon%2e%0d%0a
