An excellent rock gym is about a 20 minute drive from Camp Berry in Gilboa, Ohio, called Vertical Reality. I have taken several units there and the staff are knowledgable and very reasonable cost. They also have rappeling, confined space training, a simulated cave complete with underground water fall and a zip line. The staff train emergency response personnel as well. There is also SCUBA Diving at the Gilboa Quarry located on the same property.

Our+troop+took+30+scouts+and+six+leaders+to+summer+camp+in+2000%2e++Our+site+was+near+the+retaining+lake+and+I+don%27t+recommend+returning+to+that+location%2e++It+was+too+muddy+and+mosquito+infested%2e++The+pool%2c+shower%2c+rappeling+tower%2c+and+sewage+systems+are+all+brand+new+and+beautifully+maintained%2e++The+staff+are+positive+and+demonstrate+good+knowledge+of+scouting+principles%2e++They+maintained+scout+spirit+throughout+the+fourth+week+of+camp+which+is+a+feat+to+be+admired%21++The+lakes+at+the+camp+are+small+but+well+maintained%2e++Meals+are+adequate%2c+meaning+good+variety+and+portions%2c+for+campfood%2e++Within+hiking+distance+is+a+cool+fort+for+the+scouts+to+have+fun+in%2e++We+have+traveled+to+many+camps+and+this+camp+rates+very+highly%2e++It+is+evident+that+it+is+finacially+well%2doff%2e++I+would+recommend+this+camp+to+other+troops%2e+%0d%0a

the+repelling+tower+at+berry+was+awesome+to+climb+but+too+many+of+the+campsites+were+too+close+to+the+highway%2fraod+near+the+camp+other+than+that%2c+it+was+a+pretty+nice+place+to+go+for+a+weekend+campout%0d%0a

Camp+Berry+has+a+few+problems+here+and+there+like+every+other+summer+camp+but+it+is+mostly+a+great+summer+camp%2e+Most+of+the+buildings+like+the+pool+and+dinning+hall+are+new+and+well+maintained%2e+It+is+also+a+great+camp+for+the+horesmanship+merit+bagde+because+you+go+right+across+the+street+to+Findly+University%2e+That+is+a+great+time%2e%0d%0a
Compared+to+how+Camp+Berry+has+been+in+the+past+it+is+truly+falling+apart%2e%2e%2e+The+Staff+is+great+but+it+seems+like+they+have+had+to+many+restrictions+put+on+them+by+the+higher+ups%2e%2e%2e%2e+if+the+council+would+allow+the+staff+to+do+there+jobs+and+council+handle+the+paperwork+it%27d+be+a+heck+of+alot+better%2e%2e%2e%0d%0a
Unfortunately%2c+there+have+been+many+changes+to+the+program+of+this+camp+in+the+last+year%2e++Much+of+this+has+been+from+certain+council+employees+whose+names+I+will+not+disclose%2e++I+believe+they+have+a+record+low+staff+this+year+and+most+of+them+are+brand+new+staff%2e++These+changes+have+also+greatly+affected+the+other+camp+in+the+council%2c+Camp+Lakota%2e++I+believe+the+camp+is+moving+in+the+right+direction+for+the+long+run%2c+but+the+changes+were+made+far+too+quickly+and+with+no+camp+staff+input%2e++This+fact+will+hurt+the+camp+greatly+for+the+next+few+years%2e%0d%0a
My+troop+went+last+summer+%282013%29%2e+From+a+camper%27s+perspective+the+program+was+pretty+nice%2e+From+a+leadership+perspective+there+was+a+lot+of+drama+behind+the+scenes%2e+We+went+their+2nd%2e+week+of+camp%2e+They+were+very+short+staffed%2e+I+believe+they+needed+at+least+5+more+people+to+do+everything+they+originally+planned%2e+I+have+to+say+some+of+the+staff+is+very+knowledgeable+and+has+been+their+for+years%2e+The+organization+was+horrendous%2e+I+have+no+idea+why%2c+they+did+not+seem+to+have+these+problems+before%2e+Our+merit+badge+sign+up+questions+were+directed+to+a+Utah+resident%2e+After+we+left%2c+there+were+reports+of+staff+using+marijuana+while+there%2e+And+for+merit+badges+not+completed%2c+it+was+a+real+headache+to+get+requirements+that+were+completed+the+Camp+Director+that+was+there+at+the+time+is+our+new+DE%2e+And+by+the+way%2c+the+guy+is+great%2e+I+just+don%27t+know+what+the+cause+of+all+the+issues+were%2e+So+there+will+most+likely+be+changes+at+the+camp+in+the+coming+years%2e%0d%0a
