Named+for+William+H%2e+Cowles%2c+Sr%2e%2c+an+early+Spokane+pioneer+and+supporter+of+Scouting%2c+Cowles+Scout+Reservation+began+as+Camp+Cowles+in+the+early+1920%27s+with+a+purchase+of+80+acres+of+prime+waterfront+on+Diamond+Lake%2e++It+has+grown+to+four+camps%3a+Camp+Cowles%2c+Camp+Fosseen%2c+Camp+Ponderosa+and+Camp+Sunrise%2c+covering+over+900+acres+and+more+than+a+mile+of+waterfront%2e+%0d%0a++%0d%0aIn+a+typical+summer%2c+about+1100+boys+come+to+Camp+Cowles%2e++Carbon+Lodge+serves+the+needs+of+hungry+Scouts+and+21+improved+campsites+serve+as+home+for+a+week+to+troops+of+all+sizes%2e++Scouting+comes+alive+on+our+beautiful+waterfront%2c+deep+woods+and+calm+marshes+for+Scouts+of+all+ages+and+abilities%2e%0d%0a%0d%0a

As+a+staff+member+of+4+years+i+would+like+to+say+that+this+is+the+place+you+want+to+go+for+your+older+boys%2c+between+the+climbing+tower%2c+the+COPE+course%2c+and+the+Japeechen+Trail+there+is+always+something+to+do%2c+just+be+aware+that+each+of+these+areas+are+limited+to+how+many+boys+they+can+have+at+any+one+time+so+if+you+are+going+for+say+COPE%2c+call+both+the+council+AND+the+camp+so+that+the+COPE+director+can+figgure+out+a+way+that+all+%28or+most%29+of+your+troop+can+participate+while+still+allowing+boys+from+other+troops+to+have+fun+as+well%0d%0ain+regards+to+the+post+on+7%2f30%2f2001%2c+some+years+are+good%2c+some+years+are+better%2c+i+appologize+for+any+inconvinance+and+guarantee+that+improvements+have+been+made+in+the+past+few+years%0d%0aplease+feel+free+to+contact+me+at+Sturgen611%40hotmail%2ecom+if+you+have+any+questions+or+concerns+and+i+will+pass+them+on+to+the+current+program+director+%28atleast+for+04%29+or+another+appropriate+individual%0d%0a

Camp+too+large%2c+needs+lot+of+maintance+and+repair%2e++Over+booking+camp+during+fall+and+early+winter%2e++Need+more+employees+to+work+at+this+camp+to+make+it+run+smoother%2e++INWC%2c+too+tight+in+adding+any+help+for+the+current+camp+ranger%2e%0d%0a
