Located on Lake Coeur d'Alene. The most beautiful camp I've seen. Highly recommended for water front activities.

Of all the scout camps I have seen or that I have been a staff member of, Easton is by far the best. The scenery is breathtaking and the opportunities are endless. And if you like to sail.this is your place.

Camp+Easton+is+the+best+of+the+3+camps+owned+by+the+Inland+Northwest+Council%2e++It%27s+got+swimming+and+boating+on+beautiful+Lake+Coeur+d%27Alene%2e++The+water+is+warm+enough+to+swim+in+starting+around+the+4th+of+July%2e++There+are+many+campsites+under+the+huge+pine+and+fir+trees%2e++Hike+up+the+mountain+to+get+to+the+rifle+and+archery+ranges%2e++Stop+on+by%21%0d%0a

We+visited+Camp+Easton+in+its+first+week+of+camp+this+year%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aWe%27ve+visted+camps+in+the+first+week+before+and+know+historically+there+will+be+bumps+as+they+work+the+details+of+the+first+week%2e+I%27ve+taken+that+into+consideration+with+my+review%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aProgram%3a+Average+all+around%2e+Program+staff+was+friendly+but+was+out+of+sync+with+what+the+SM+were+being+told+in+the+SM+meetings+by+the+Program+Director%2e+This+caused+a+lot+of+confusion+for+the+scouts%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aFood%3a+The+food+was+good+but+serving+size+was+inconsistant+between+participants%2e+Small+and+cramped+dining+hall+even+though+they+just+added+on%2e+Changed+to+a+%22one+sitting%22+time+slot+instead+of+two%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aCampsites%3a+Beautiful+and+spacious%2e+New+tents+and+platforms+in+majority+of+sites%2c+%28didn%27t+visit+all+to+validate+100%25%29%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aKybos%3a+Multi+stall+with+no+privacy%2e+It+made+a+lot+of+us+leaders+concerned+about+Youth+Protection+and+the+Two+Deep+Leadership+as+it%27s+to+protect+the+adults+too%2e+A+good+solution+would+be+to+just+put+door+on+each+stall+so+each+could+enter+from+the+outside%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aHazards%3a+The+road+that+separates+the+camp%2e+A+real+problem+that+the+council+is+aware+of%2e+Scouts+must+cross+daily+for+program+activities%2c+%28all+range+sports%2c+nature+activites+and+scout+craft%29%2e+campsite+also+located+there+too%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aCamp+property+overall%3a+Beautiful+and+picturesque%2e+Adaquately+maintained%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aAdult+leader+rating%3a+4+out+of+10%0d%0aScout+rating%3a+8+out+10%0d%0aOverall+rating%3a+6+out+of+10%0d%0a%0d%0aWill+we+return%3f+No%0d%0a

We+went+to+Camp+Easton+for+the+first+time+this+year+%2d%2d+all+we+can+say+is+WOW%21%0d%0a%0d%0aThis+was+our+best+camping+experience+in+25+years%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+facility+is+beautiful%2c+located+on+Lake+Coeur+d%27Alene%2c+with+an+absolutely+fantastic+waterfront%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+program+is+outstanding+%2d%2d+clearly+geared+to+make+your+patrols+function+as+patrols+with+leadership+opportunities%2c+competition+and+games%2e+Our+patrols+grew+in+their+ability+with+this+experience%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aAlong+with+this+is+the+wonderful+way+in+which+advancement+is+conducted%2e++Everything+from+the+method+of+sign%2dup+to+completion+is+absolutely+fair+and+adheres+to+the+advancement+policies%2e++There+are+no+%22give%2daways%22+here%2c+yet+Scouts+were+able+to+attain+what+they+set+out+to+accomplish+for+the+most+part%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+staff+is+the+model+for+a+Scout+Camp%3a+they+live+the+Scout+Oath+and+Law%2e++While+we+were+there%2c+I+became+aware+that+they+were+7+staff+members+short%2c+yet+it+was+completely+invisible+to+campers%2e++It+meant+the+staff+was+working+very+hard+to+deliver+the+program%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+waterfront+program+is+the+draw+with+nearly+every+aquatics%2drelated+MB+covered%2e+They+have+a+fleet+of+canoes%2c+including+30+foot+%22war+canoes%22+used+for+4%2d1%2f2+mile+one%2dway+overnights+across+the+lake%2e++Supervision+is+outstanding%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aA+highway+does+run+through+camp%2c+to+the+camp+is+divided+into+upper+and+lower+sections%2e++All+shooting+sports%2c+nature+and+Scoutcraft+are+located+in+the+upper+camp%2c+as+are+a+number+of+camp+sites%2e++The+lower+camp+contains+camp+sites%2c+waterfront%2c+handicraft%2c+a+well%2dstocked+trading+post%2c+and+the+dining+hall%2e++New+shower+houses+with+individual+shower+rooms+and+individual+toilets+easily+address+youth+protection+and+shy+boys%2c+as+well+as+meeting+the+needs+of+female+Scouters%2e++These+are+located+in+both+the+upper+and+lower+camps%2e++Camp+sites+still+have+kybos+nearby%2c+so+bathroom+needs+are+easily+met%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aCamp+sites+are+a+bit+primitive+in+some+respects%2c+but+most+tents+have+full+platforms%2e++It+is+a+steep+climb+into+some+of+the+sites%2c+but+roads+are+available+to+haul+in+your+heavier+gear%2e++You+will+get+your+exercise%21%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+food+is+outstanding%2e++We+were+fed+too+well+by+our+previous+experiences+elsewhere%2e++They+even+had+a+salad+bar+available+at+lunch+and+dinner%2e++No+one+can+possibly+go+hungry%2c+unless+they+flat%2dout+choose+not+to+eat%2e++Even+my+finicky+eaters+were+happy%21++Our+Scouts%27+consumption+of+candy+from+the+Trading+Post+was+pretty+low+due+to+the+wonderful+meals%2e++The+dining+hall+is+open+24+hours+a+day+for+people+to+make+a+peanut+butter+and+jelly+sandwich+if+they+are+hungry%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+camp+is+also+the+base+for+a+whitewater+program+for+older+Scouts%2e++They+leave+from+the+camp+on+Monday+morning+and+return+Friday+afternoon%2c+spending+the+week+rafting+further+South+from+the+camp%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+only+thing+this+camp+is+missing+is+a+COPE+program%2c+but+I+heard+that+is+on+the+way%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aIn+short%2c+if+a+Scout+doesn%27t+have+fun+at+this+camp%2c+it%27s+because+he+doesn%27t+want+to+participate%2e++if+he%27s+hungry%2c+it%27s+because+he+chose+not+to+eat+from+the+excellent+varied+menu%2e++It+has+to+be+a+jewel+in+Boy+Scout+camps+in+the+United+States%2e%0d%0a

%0aAlso+in+1951%2c+an+%2411%2c000+fund+was+set+up+by+the+Athletic+Round+Table+of+Coeur+d%92Alene+for+improvements+in+Camp+Easton%2e+It+was+provided+that+the+fund+would+be+administered+by+S%2eC%2e+Sanderson%2c+representing+the+A%2eR%2eT%2e%2c+and+Tony+Moen%2c+chairman+of+the+camping+and+activities+committee+of+the+Idaho+Panhandle+Council%2c+Boy+Scouts+of+America%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aFrom+these+funds+the+three+Adirondack+cabins+were+built%2c+a+new+water+pump+house+built%2c+a+new+water+pump+installed%2c+and+a+new+redwood+water+tank+purchased%2e+Bunker+Hill%92s+Stanley+Easton+appointed+one+of+his+company%92s+engineers%2c+Victor+Tang%2c+to+design+a+steel+tower+for+the+new+water+tank%2e+The+tower+was+fabricated+in+Bunker+Hill+shops%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aTang+took+four+Bunker+Hill+employees+to+Camp+Easton+with+the+tower+material+and+erected+the+steel+tower+on+a+concrete+base%2e+The+tower+continues+to+stand+at+the+camp+near+the+large+dining+hall%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aIn+1962%2c+a+new+gateway+was+designed+and+built+for+Camp+Easton%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+featured+part+of+the+gateway+was+a+bronze+plaque+with+a+picture+of+Easton+etched+into+the+bronze+and+a+short+history+of+this+great+Scouter%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+plaque+is+mounted+on+a+masonry+monument+covered+with+slabs+of+colorful+native+rock+and+surmounted+with+a+skillfully+carved+totem+pole%2e+Master+of+Ceremonies+for+the+dedication+was+James+Evenden%2c+a+recipient+of+the+Silver+Beaver+Award+with+Easton+in+1932%2e+As+honored+guest+was+Ruth+Easton+Rogers%2c+eldest+daughter+of+Stanly+A%2e+Easton%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aIn+1970+a+Camp+Easton+Redevelopment+Capital+Campaign+was+planned+an+inaugurated%2e+Duane+Hagadone+of+Coeur+d%92Alene+and+Wayne+Knudtsen%2c+also+of+Coeur+d%92Alene%2c+were+named+general+chairman+and+vice%2dchairman%2c+respectively%2e+The+five+district+chairmen+were+Harry+Magnuson%2c+Shoshone%3b+Duane+Edmonds%2c+Kootenai%3b+Cy+Chase%2c+Beneway%3b+Bill+Nixon%2c+Selkirk%3b+and+Jack+Parker%2c+Moyie%2e+The+projected+improvements+and+redevelopment+costs+were+divided+into+three+phases+of+work+for+a+total+cost+of+%24145%2c830%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aFaithful+Scouters%2c+friends+of+Scouting%2c+businesses+and+parents+of+boys+contributed+generous+amounts+of+cash%2e+Many+firms+gave+material+of+various+kinds+and+many+individuals%2c+members+of+service+clubs+and+the+Sea+Bees%2c+gave+unrecorded+hours+of+labor+to+the+redevelopment+campaign%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+first+project+undertaken+was+the+building+of+the+central+shower+for+the+use+of+all+boys+in+the+camp%2e+The+Gyro+Club+of+Wallace+provided+all+the+material+for+the+building+and+the+Sea+Bees+constructed+it%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+largest+undertaking+was+the+enlargement+and+modernization+of+the+dining+hall%2e+Jim+Benning%2c+Coeur+d%92Alene%2c+for+many+years+owned+and+operated+a+sawmill%2c+planer+mill+and+chemical+treating+plant+in+the+Kellogg+area+specializing+in+mine+lumber+and+timbers%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aBenning+provided+all+the+lumber+for+the+enlargement+of+the+building+and+hauled+it+to+camp%2e+The+Coeur+d%92Alene+Lions+Club+furnished+all+the+labor%2e+In+the+main+dining+area%2c+sliding+glass+windows+were+installed+and+interior+walls+were+covered+with+wood+paneling%2e+A+large+fireplace+was+built+and+face+with+slabs+of+native+stones%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aNew+fluorescent+lights+were+installed%2e+The+kitchen+area+was+a+completely+new+addition+to+the+hall%2e+New+equipment+was+installed%2c+including+gas+stove+and+grill%2c+electric+ovens%2c+refrigerators+and+mixers%2e+The+walk%2din+refrigerator+from+Farragut+days+was+relocated+and+food+storage+areas+built%2e+Special+work+tables+and+cabinets+were+built+by+John+Davis+of+Kellogg%2c+for+many+years+a+Scoutmaster+in+the+Idaho+Panhandle+Council%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aOne+facility+that+had+been+noticeably+needed+for+a+long+time+was+an+adequate+beach+dressing+room%2e+Scouters+Floyd+Clemans+and+Ray+Turner+built+a+completely+new+building%2e+It+has+a+concrete+floor+that+can+be+easily+washed%2c+clothes+racks+and+toilet+facilities%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThis+facility+is+handy+for+all+Scouts+but+especially+for+the+boys+in+camps+located+up+on+the+hill%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+last+building+to+be+built+was+the+much+needed+storage+building+and+the+new+commissary+appropriately+named+%93The+Lion%92s+Den%2e%94+The+Coeur+d%92Alene+Lions+Club+gave+%244%2c000+for+the+expenses+on+the+building+and+furnished+all+the+labor%2e+The+Atlas+Building+Center+and+Diamond+International+Corporation+gave+generous+supplies+of+lumber%2c+doors+and+building+hardware+for+the+building%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+interior+walls+of+the+commissary+are+of+special+red+cedar+given+and+installed+by+Scouters+of+the+Moyie+district%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aCarl+Wulff+Jr%2e%2c+manager+of+the+J%2eC%2e+Penney+Co%2e+store+in+Coeur+d%92Alene+gave+substantial+steel+shelving+for+the+storage+area%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aMaintenance+and+improvements+at+Camp+Easton+are+continuously+with+us%2e+Unfinished+from+the+Redevelopment+Campaign+are+a+family+are+central+washhouse%2c+remodeling+of+the+health+lodge%2c+camp+staff+latrine+and+showers%2c+a+critically+needed+underground+electrical+system+and+the+major+undertaking+of+building+and+administration+building%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aTime%2c+effort+and+money+will+control+the+speed+with+which+we+complete+these+projects%2c+but+with+Scouters+like+Tony+Moen+and+Floyd+Clemens+the+projects+will+be+completed+and+the+camp+continuously+improved%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aThe+summer+of+1994+marks+the+65th+consecutive+session+that+Scouts+at+all+levels%2c+adult+Scouters+and+special+groups+have+utilized+the+picturesque+215%2dacre+site+with+one+half%2dmile+of+lake+shoreline%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aSituated+near+Gotham+Bay%2c+about+four+miles+by+boat+and+20+miles+by+car+from+Coeur+d%92Alene%2c+Camp+Easton+is+ideally+located+to+serve+Scouters+from+the+entire+five+northern+counties+of+Idaho%2e%0d%0a%0d%0a%0d%0a%0d%0a

Has+Easton+ever+thought+about+offering+Citizenship+merit+badges+as+an+opportunity%2e+A+lot+of+our+star+and+life+scouts+like+the+camp%2c+but+most+the+required+merit+badges+they+already+have%2e++Fly+Fishing+merit+badge+as+well+might+be+an+added+attraction%2c+as+well+as+Fish+and+Wildlife+Merit+Badge%2e++Just+some+thoughts%2e+Our+scouts+had+a+wonderful+time%2c+some+are+even+adding+Easton+on+the+list+for+next+year+to+return%2e+However%2c+we+always+make+sure+out+scouts+take+at+least+one+required+merit+badge+at+camp%2c+one+reason+for+asking+about+citizenship+merit+badges%0d%0a
