One of the best high elevation campsites in the Blue Ridge Mtns. Water source nearby, many trails of varied difficulty levels but mostly easy to moderate. Must see Shining Rock: A lump of white quartzite as big as a house perched on top of the mountain 5 min. hike up from the campsite. Looks like a chunk of ice from a glacier. Campsite is primitive, follow best low impact rules. Highly visited in-season (June-September) on weekends.
