This camp has a watershed lake located near the southern edge of camp this lake is GREAT for fishing. Also a new project that is now happening is the construction of a wooden fort Fort Sanders a treehouse and a castle which is still in the planing stage the fort is completed and the treehouse is still under construction a visitors center is also to be added at a later date.

This camp was designed for Boy Scout use in its beginning with Cub Scouts using it also. It has now become a Cub Scout type camp only. They are also in the process of what looks to be a little Clear Cutting of a few hundred trees going on.

I agree with the last person's comment, this camp has become a Cub Scout Fun World. It's all about head count anymore, and there are more( Cub Scout) age boys than (Boy Scout) age boys.

The Cub World mentioned by the last person has been re-named Scout World because it has become very popular with the troops as well as the Cubs! The stockade is a great place for Boy Scouts to spend a weekend and has a large fire ring and a chuck wagon in the middle. RSR is used heavily by Boy Scouts as well as Cub Scouts and is large enough (5600 acres) to accommodate both at the same time. The Scout World section will also include a native American village and a castle as well as the pirate ship, tree house and stockade which are already there. If this camp is so popular why is has there been no summer camp for Boy Scouts in the last several years? It seems as thought someone is trying to pull the Wool over someone's eyes, to keep people from really knowing the truth.

There has been no summer camp for boys here in the last several years because no one wants to attend when they can drive an extra 100 miles and go to camp Orr for only $30 more last year a camp was scheduled and a very limited number of people signed up staff had already been hired and they had to be sent home not to mention that there have been limited funding lately money has now been donated and the camp is being improved to find out more please check out the westark Bsa homepage

I didn't know that you could clear-cut, Boy Scout land. I would like to know more on this subject if anyone can tell me.I had also heard this had been done at the old camp Rudy,is this true? I had a friend tell me he saw Camp Rudy and this was true. A concerned parent

BSA Land is clear-cut basicly for the purpose of controling the forest. For example several of the trees around the dining hall and other structures including the chapel and trading post were cut because they were leaning toward the structures; however most of the clear-cutting in Rogers is happening on the hillside so as to make room for the new scout world which is in the makings I believe that in this case the clear-cutting is nessicary to improve the quality of the camp, because who would want trees growing out of the fort. as you can clearely see though since we have a tree house we are trying to prreserve the trees except where they absoloutly mus go and even then we try to limit it to a reasonable number. all of this takes place at least 1 1/2 miles away from campsites and will not damage the looks of the camp.

What about camp Rudy? I noticed no comments were said about that. I am sure you can come up with a real good story for that camp too. The game you are playing is slowly coming to an end. I suppose that's why more than 20 Troops went out of council this year for summer camp.
