I+have+attended+STSR+as+a+camper+for+6+years+now+and+intend+to+work+on+staff+in+2003%2e+This+camp+has+completed+the+first+year+of+a+phase+to+rebuild+the+summer+camp+program+expirence%2e+New+camp+games+and+events+are+being+added%2e+While+many+merit+badge+are+a+little+simplified%2c+almost+all+require+you+to+pass+a+final+test+to+earn+them%2e+While+the+weather+is+not+ideal%2c+105%2b+heat+index+and+rain+almost+every+day%2c+There+are+plenty+of+ways+to+cool+off%2e+The+aquatics+program+offers+almost+every+aquatics+merit+badge+and+participation+is+generally+high%2e+Shooting+sports+and+Handicraft+are+also+strong+areas+for+STSR%2e+The+scenery+consists+of+sand+%28very+little+grass%29%2c+a+veriety+of++oak+trees%2c+and+sand+pines%2e+Most+campsites+have+a+small+shed+housing+one+non%2dheated+shower+shower+%28as+hot+as+it+is+you+don%27t+need+hot+water%29%2c+a+sink%2c+a+urinal%2c+and+two+non%2dflushing+latriens%2e+Flush+toliets+and+hot+water+is+availible+for+youth+and+adults+at+the+Central+showers+building%2e+While+this+camp+has+had+some+problems+in+the+past%2c+it+is+improving+rapidly%2e++%0d%0a

The+Spanish+Trail+Scout+Reservation+is+located+just+west+of+Defuniak+Springs%2c+Florida%2e++There+are+two+separate+camps+at+STSR%2e++One%2c+Camp+Euchee%2c+provides+tents+and+meals+are+served+in+a+dining+hall%2e++The+second%2c+Camp+Jambo%2c+are+for+troops+that+wish+to+utilize+the+patrol+method+more+and+cook+their+own+meals%2e++Our+camp+has+come+a+long+way+in+the+last+few+years%2e++Many+new+programs+have+been+added+and+the+camp+has+an+excellent+first+year+camper+program+called+%22Pathfinders%22%2e++The+lake+at+STSR+is+one+of+the+most+beautiful+lakes+in+the+south%2e++It+is+clear+and+is+perfect+for+swimming+and+fishing%2e+STSR+is+blessed+with+an+excellent+camp+staff%2e++Most+of+the+program+area+directors+are+volunteers+from+the+Gulf+Coast+Council+and+are+some+of+the+most+qualified+personnel+you+will+find%2e+The+camp+staff+is+dedicated+to+service+and+program+enhancement%2e++If+you+have+any+questions%2c+please+do+not+hesitate+to+contact+me%2e+I+can+be+reached+at+SPANISHTRAIL2003%40yahoo%2ecom%2e+%0d%0a

TROOP+556+OF+NICEVILLE+FL%2e+HAS+ATTENDED+SPANISH+TRAILS+SUMMER+CAMP+3+YEARS+NOW+2003%2c+2004%2c+%26+2005%2e+THE+FOOD+IS+GOOD%2c+CAMP+SITES+ARE+GREAT+AND+MOST+OF+ALL+THE+STAFF+AND+MERIT+BADGE+INSTRUCTORS+ARE+GREAT%2e++THEY+OFFER+ALOT+OF+MERIT+BADGES+AND+THE+BEST+PART+IS+THEY+OFFER+A+PATHFINERS+CLASS+THAT+ALLOWS+NEW+SCOUTS+TO+GET+TENDERFOOT%2c+2ND+CLASS+AND+1ST+CLASS+SOMEWHAT+COMPLETED+AND+A+MERIT+BADGE+TO+BOOT%2e+THERE+PAPERWORK+AT+THE+END+OF+CAMP+FOR+EACH+SCOUT+AND+WHAT+HAS+BEEN+COMPLETED+IS+AWSOME%2e++A+SCOUT+RECORD+AND+A+TROOP+RECORD+IS+PROVIDED%2e+ITS+GREAT%21+++MY+SCOUTS+LOVE+GOING+TO+CAMP+EUCHI%21%0d%0a

This+camp+is+located+in+Defuniak+Springs%2c+Florida+about+half%2dway+between+Tallahassee+and+Pensacola%2e++It+is+operated+by+the+Gulf+Coast+Council%2e+The+camp+has+a+strong+sense+of+tradition%2c+going+back+to+its+founding+in+1961%2e++The+typical+campership+is+about+200+youth+in+any+given+week%2e++Each+site+has+wall+tents+on+platforms%2e++Facilities+in+each+site+include+pit+latrines%2c+cold+water+sinks+and+showers%2e++There+are+central+bath+facilities+which+offer+both+hot+showers+and+flush+toilets%2e++The+dining+hall+is+excellent%2e++Seconds+on+most+every+meal%2e++NO+boys+complained+about+the+food%21++Euchee+observes+a+tradition+of+song+time+after+each+evening+meal%2e++The+lake+is+one+of+the+best+I%27ve+seen%2e++The+water+is+clean%2c+a+perfect+temperature%2c+and+the+facilities+well%2dmaintained%2e+The+staff+is+the+outstanding+feature+of+this+camp%2e++They+go+above+and+beyond+the+call+to+make+sure+each+troop+has+an+enjoyable+week+in+camp%2e++The+camp+adult+leadership+draws+heavily+from+the+number+of+retired+military+personnel+who+live+in+the+northwest+Florida+area%2e++Their+dedication+to+scouting+shows+in+all+facets+of+camp+operation%2e+%0d%0a+%0d%0aThis+a+great+camp%2e++Not+well%2dattended+by+out%2dof%2dcouncil+troops%2c+but+a+real+gem+for+a+troop+looking+to+experience+some+of+what+north+Florida+offers%2e++Our+troop+visited+Euchee+in+2005+and+had+a+wonderful+time%2e++The+daytime+temperatures+were+in+the+90%27s+but+the+evenings+were+cool+enough+to+appreciate+a+blanket%2e++We%27d+like+to+return%2e+The+Gulf+Coast+Council+website+is%3a+http%3a%2f%2fwww%2egulfcoastcouncil%2eorg%2f%2e%0d%0a%0d%0aChip+B%2e+%0d%0aASM%0d%0aTroop+548%0d%0a

One+of+the+best+experiences+I+had+as+a+scout+was+going+to+camp+Euchee+in+the+summer+of+1961%2c62%2eThe+OA+ceremony+was+the+best+I%27ve+ever+seen%2e+I+moved+to+Texas+is+1962+and+continued+my+scouting+career%2eIn+1995+I+became+an+ASM+with+my+sons+troop%2c+got+involved+with+High+Adventure%2c+lost+50+lbs+and+in+1998+went+to+Philmont%2e+In+2002+my+son+became+and+Eagle+Scout%2e+Scouting+taught+me+morals+and+values+that+I+continue+to+use+to+this+day%2e+I+work+with+deliquent+youth+as+a+profession+and+scouting+has+helped+me+all+the+way%2e%0d%0a
