It%27s+a+real+shame+to+see+this+camp+suffering+as+it+is%2e+I+attended+summer+camp+at+GTSR+in+1973%2e+I+also+did+my+ordeal+while+there%2e+It+was+my+most+memorable+summer+camp+experience%2e+The+camp+was+phenomenal%2e+I+have+always+wanted+to+return%2e+I+hope+the+council+can+get+it+together+and+make+the+camp+strong+again%2e%2e%2e%2e%2eA+Scouter+in+Texas%2e%0d%0a

The+camp+has+been+closed+for+two+years+due+to+Golden+Empire+Council%27s+inability+to+finance+upgrades+required+by+the+county+health+dept+and+the+forest+service%2e+The+camp+should+be+receiving+these+upgrades+starting+later+this+summer%2e+An+escrow+fund+of+%24260%2c000+has+been+set+up+to+provide+matching+funds+of+up+to+this+%24+amount+to+provide+the+necessary+improvements+as+well+as+others%2e+The+intent+is+to+reopen+in+2005+as+a+high+adventure+camp%2e+It+will+probably+be+renamed+Robert+Cole+Scout+Camp+in+honor+of+the+former+GEC+Scout+Executive%2c+whose+family+has+established+the+matching+funds+account%2e+It+should+be+noted+that+part+of+these+funds+could+also+be+used+at+one+of+the+other+GEC+camps%2c+excluding+Camp+Pollock%2e+Once+the+camp+reopens%2c+the+family+has+promised+to+provide+up+to+half+the+maintenance+costs+each+year+for+GTSR%2e%0d%0a

It+does+not+take+a+rocket+scientist+to+figure+out+why+the+camp+closed%2e+When+you+take+a+%24220%2c000+budget+and+only+allow+about+30%25+of+that+to+run+the+program%2c+maintenance+and+staff%2c+then+pocket+the+rest+for+the+council%2c+camps+close+quickly%2e+It+is+a+testemant+to+the+volunteers+that+it+lasted+as+long+as+it+did+under+the+rule+of+Golden+Empire+Council%2e%0d%0a

Camp+Cole+is+now+being+used+by+the+White+Stag+Sierra+Leadership+Development+Program+for+their+summer+camp+July+5%2d11+in+2015%2e+They+have+helped+the+Sacramento+LDS+Church+to+upgrade+some+portions+of+the+camp%2e+White+Stag+Sierra+will+host+about+150+youth+there+in+2015%2e++The+Sacramento+Stake+of+the+LDS+Church+is+also+using+the+camp+for+their+Boy+Scout+summer+camp+two+weeks+later+in+July%2e+So+it%27s+getting+some+much+needed+care+and+upkeep%2e%0d%0a
